JJ, Yay for you!!!! One day of freedom already!!! I remember figuring out that I had thousands of after meal cigs before I quit. Those kinds of associations take a while to go away, but you can help it along by doing something else instead. One of the members here, I think it was Lainey, would get up from the table right away and do the dishes. That would earn points with whoever you live with, too ;) Or, go brush your teeth, go for a walk, take a shower, pop in a dvd. Point being, mix up your routine a bit. Pretty soon it won't be such a trigger anymore :) Good for you for asking for tips. Glad to hear you're doing well JJ! I used chocolate covered Altoid mints after EVERY meal for quite some time. It was a little reward that I really enjoyed after a meal instead of the cig. It worked well for me. I've heard others swear by sour candies or peppermints. Day 2 The cravings have not been that bad. But now it seems I am hungry all the time. I am trying to keep healthy snacks around to munch on. Does anyone have any good tips to deal with the after meal craving. That is the hardest for me to deal with.

Hi JJ! You've gotten a lot of great advice here from some really great quitters with tons of ex-smoking wisdom. I just want to reiterate what Jodi said and recommend working the SSC program to the fullest. The workbook was a very large part of my success. The only other thing I can recommend is that you meet cravings with deep breathing and ice cold water. Those things worked wonders on my cravings. Good luck and keep us posted, K? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 129 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,870 Amount Saved: $754.65 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 17 Mins: 37 Seconds: 22
