Hi Ski My husband and are both on Chantix. We have tried everything else. This worked well for me, I started in July, he started late August. I been cigarette free for a while. It's not the nicotine, it's the feeling. I smoked for 40 years plus, It gets easier, I keep telling myself I am a non-smoker. I really do feel better. But, food tastes better, so I try to keep high calorie food out of the house. find what works for you. I love chocolate, but don't eat too much. It's my reward. Besides, I smell so much better, and so will my house. Hang in, we made it so can you. Keep doing it until you get it right. That's all any of us can do. Ski Water, water and more water...That was key for me. You must find out why, where and when you smoke and then be ready with an alternate behavior pattern...I too smoked for 37 years and it has not been easy, but it has not been impossible...Also try finding an activity that would be impossibe to do as a smoker and get into it mind and body...You will find that as you begin to excel in that area, the urge and need to smoke will be diminished... Good luck my friend, never forget that this can be done and you can do it... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 262 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,860 Amount Saved: $1,834.00 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 19 Mins: 21 Seconds: 9

Hi Ski, been on chantix for almost 2 weeks. Each day i am coping how to change my bad habbits. Somedays i have very mild cravings but then i get a real strong one and i been talking myself thru it. I smoke for 13 years thats half my life and i tried to stop smoking 2 other times before this and so far chantix for me is the best way to go for it. Take your hardest triggers of the day and replace them with something else. Make healthy habit choices. If getting home from work is a hard trigger..... do a power walk after work everyday. If the mornings are hard......read a devotional or inspirational book instead of the smoke. If after dinner is hard.....plan a special treat like a frozen strawberry bar. Those little new habits make it so much easier.
