Hello Stef, I am a newly quit person as well. I have attempted a number times over the years. The longest quit I had was 6 months. I have used NRT and Zyban in prior attempts. I think we all learn alot from prior attempts about what works and what does not work for us. This time I used Chantix and it has been the great!!!! I am certain I will go the distance this time. My physcial cravings are not as bad as in the past. I fight my mental one's by telling myself to smoke a cig. will not change the situation. I am proud of you going cold turkey. I know that is a tough choice one I don't think I could handle. Hang in there Stef! Going smoke free is so worth it. Beside look at all the money you save. :) Take care, God Bless and stay in the fight!!! Your doing great Steph! Keep up the good work. Don't worry about the past just the future. Let's face it, smoking is so 60'ish anyway, don't even think about going back. Nobody smokes anymore. You have now boarded the quit train! Next stop, The Healthy Lifestyle Concourse where you can walk AND breathe! stef wow!!! 4 weeks! I am so impressed. Just my 3 day and that seems so far away. You off to a great start. Allen Carr's book has really helped me, too. NOPE works for me because that's how I lost my last quit. I thougt I could have one a day for about a week... which turned into a pack a day. Live and learn.. Stef, It sounds like you are doing a really great job! It seems like everything is a trigger, I want to smoke all of the time. I keep holding on and hoping that one day I won't even think about smoking anymore. Just hang in there! You have come WAY too far to give up now. Keep checking your milage. I love seeing how many cigarettes I have not smoked and how much money I have saved. That has really kept me going. Thanks everybody... I love to read your advice. I am rewarding myself this time. Every week, i put the money that i would have spent on cigarettes in a box. I save that money for a special weekend spa with my mom and my 3 sisters. We have planned to go on this special weekend in october. To this day i have 125.00$ saved. Youpi!!! Also, i want to thank you Jana for your tip. I'll absolutely try it the next time i'm around a fire. I'm sure it will help me cause i'll be thinking of you...and that will automatically make me think of a non smoker who is going threw the same things i am. I won't feel alone in all of this. Thanks....reading your comments helps me alot. Stephanie

Stef, I completely relate with the fire. We have an RV on a lake and are down there every weekend. I agree wholeheartedly. Sitting around the fire does make you crave. I am 50 days out now and that is one of the few places I still think about it. There is alot of advice ou there to take yourself out of situations like that, but I could not imagine not sitting around the fire, so whenever I got the urge to smoke while sitting there I took the advice of some really great people on this site, crazy as it may sound I yelled at the craving. Mind you, not out loud as I believe people would have thought I had lost my mind, but I yelled at it in my head. It started being kind of funny. When the crave comes up now, I give it a little yell in my head and follow it up with a little laugh. My husband is in on the joke now, so he knows when I start giggling around the fire I have been yelling at my crave... :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,250 Amount Saved: $250.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 6 Mins: 51 Seconds: 42
