This quit journey is difficult - for some it's a walk through hell, and for others, it's not so bad... And this addiction IS a walk through hell, so stay close to this site and read, read - read... Then when you have more time, read more... especially old posts... Ask for what you need and know we are right here for and with YOU... Hi Redfox, Welcome to the most supportive non-smoking site around. It's very friendly here, and really easy: Willpower gone? We respond! Feeling low? Let us know! Got a crave? We can save! Something to ask? Get answers fast! We will help you! Oh yeah, and a sense of humor helps too! Congratulations on your first day! Chantix is amazing...I have 4 more weeks of it to go. Things do get easier, and you wont always think about all of the cigs you arent smoking. (Ok, all you long timers, I said it! You told me I would get here, I never thought I would, but what did I know??? ;) ) Keep up the good work, and stick around! redfox, Welcome and congrats on making it through your first day! Let's get your ready for the rest of the week :) Do you have coping mechanisms ready? Use these to help get over craves on a daily basis. Make a list of hobbies, chores and activities that can help you avoid situations that will tempt you and this will also keep you mind off the habitual part of the journey. Post often, we are always here for you :) Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.

:)Hi Refox, I am also on Chantix and it is the first thing that ever helped. I also have a hard time when I get home from work for about 2 hours. I still go outside at work but instead of smoking I take a walk around the building and take deep breaths. Reading the posts from people is one the main things that has kept me strong so keep reading and GOOD LUCK My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 269 Amount Saved: $84.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 58 Seconds: 32

Redfox - The great part about the SSC is that we can all relate to what you're going through! The first few days are not fun. But, you've already made it through Day#1 and you're sailing through Day#2. Keep in mind all of the coping with craving tricks people are using: *distraction & keeping busy *drinking lots of cold water *changing your routine *sugarless gum & candy *chewing on straws, licorice, or cinammin sticks *look into & start some new hobbies *clean your home, car, & clothes (get rid of the stinky smell!) *positive self-talk (e.g. "Smoking is not an option" or "N.O.P.E. - not one puff ever) *allow for lots of extra sleep at the beginning *read & post & read & post & read & post We're all here with you and for you! Welcome Redfox and congratulaitons on your decision to stop smpoking. I am using Chantix and it has been very helpful so far but I think reading and posting on this site as well as using the program here is the key element to making your quit successful. Good Luck!
