A Reason to Stop Smoking

Yes oh Yes is it crazy in smoking land :(

You go into the airport check in and realize that it took you 1 1/2 hours to check in and your sitting there wondering if you could possibly go back out just for one and return in time to catch the flight.  God what to do???

Your at a friends house and like them and all but they don't smoke and they hate smokers but they like you...Well you are going to have to be a non smoker for 3 hours with them and will be hating the evening. Gotta leave early because um...gotta get early the next morning..

You decide not to smoke anymore in your car because it sticks and it's a bad resale value so you need to pull over to some god awful part of town to get out and take a smoke.  Then you will be meeting people so you need to use some awful restroom to try to get rid of your smell. Gas Stations become your friend.  Did you ever notice how late you are to meet up with anyone when go through all this...

Numerous others but I'll stop there.  Yes and I do like rain and snow but not every hour on the hour and late at night .

It's worth it folks!  That is Quitting. Ron

Breather, you are just my kind of guy

You tell it like it is and I so agree with most of what you say. The main reason I am quitting (this final time) is not having to go outside to smoke in the rain/wind/cold/snow etc etc.

"Not having to smoke" as opposed to before "can't smoke", is such a big deal to me.

I love your FEAR phrase...awesome

There are many different reasons why we decide to stop smoking. As a smoker there is one thing that scared me above all else. The fear of not being able to smoke as in being hospitalized and having to go through forced withdrawal was a biggy. Even a half hour or an hour without one used to be torture. Things sure are different today. I'm in no hurry to rush out in the cold , rain or snow anymore. I'm not a reformed smoker that has to lash out at the tobacco companys and go on and on about how disgusting it is. It's a choice to smoke and also a choice not to. People recovering from addictions are the best people and that includes recovery from nicotine. One of the most powerful drugs known to mankind. I'm rooting for the underdog because I know that it's possible to win at this game. How things do change. If , for some reason , I'm in a position of being in hospital or on a long flight the fact that I can't smoke doesn't matter any more bacause I don't need or want to now. As a non smoker now those fears are unfounded. FEAR  Face Everything And Recover. breather
