Hi sly,

It looks like you are only a couple of months from the 1 year mark.  I'm just amazed at how quickly time has passed. It seems like I just saw you pop up here yesterday.

Yes, I just responded to two separate people in one post, instead of generating a separate post for each. I had actually meant to post responses to Sparky, Machiaveli, and Vincenza all in one post, but I ot distracted and ended up pushing the button early. Hopefully, that makes sense.

Sparky, I believe Working On It was just addressing you.

He wrote something to  Macahiavelli and then wrote something to you.

I did not want you to think this site is as messed up as facebook.

I did not post this post

Macahiavelli,

It looks like you are very close, too. 36 days until you hit the one year mark, in my calculations. I remember wondering if you were ever going to make it over a month. So glad that you did. We will both be celebrating soon.

Sparky,

Thanks for the encouragement. I will definitely be here to brag about it when I hit one year.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Vincenza,

In that first month (especially in the first few days), I read a lot of this to keep from slipping up.  http://whyquit.com/ffn/index.html  The ideas in there were very helpful for me in understanding and fighting the addiction. I think some of those understandings are what have also kept me off nicotine, also.

I think I was logging in here a lot, too.

And it just happened to be a very busy month at work, so I had plenty of stuff to keep my mind off cigarettes.

Congratulations Working On It!  What an AMAZING achievement!
What words can you offer to those in their first month of quitting?   What helped you most during the initial stages of your quit?
And, how do you plan on celebrating this milestone??
