Angelcapp, One of my discussions was moved too one time. I think they move it under a forum that best suits the discussion. But, I'm not sure. How are you doing? Keep in touch and stay strong!! AngelCapp, I'm so proud of you girl. You're doing great. Keep right on reading and posting. It really helps. Make sure you're drinking tons of water. I'm really soooo tired of it now but I have to keep drinking it because it really helps with any cravings. Have you got your arsenal of gum, hard candy, toothpicks, straws, etc. That first cigarette in the morning is hard, especially when you drink coffee. Ugh. But, it really does get better. I promise you it does. I know, it doesn't happen as fast as we want it to, LIKE YESTERDAY!!, but it does happen. At first, I couldn't even drink coffee because it would trigger a crave for a smoke. Now I can drink coffee but not black anymore....I have to put splenda a creamer in it. Weird, but I have to change up my triggers. Holler if you need us and we'll all come a runnin.' You're doing super!!!!! :gasp: Ah Angelcapp....tis the :eg: EVIL NICODEMON putting "junkie thoughts" of deprivation into your brain! your Chantix will replace the same thing that nicotine does physically in your brain, but YOU have to change the habits! The week before my quit date, I put my plan into action: (Although Chantix recommends continued smoking for the week before the quit date) I literally started cutting down because I noticed I really didn't want them that much, and they tasted "strange" Wow...this is cool. So I thought, ok good...now is the time to start exchanging or changing habits...while the urge or crave was calmed. In the morning, instead of grabbing the smokes and lighter on my way to the bathroom, I went to the coffee pot first and put my coffee on. ...and delaying lighting up until the coffee was ready. I found myself comfortably able to do this taking the Chantix. I also stopped sitting at the Dinner table after a meal to light up. Instead, I would rise and start clearing the table first (before I had my after dinner smoke) I knew I would not be able to have a cigarett for breakfast when I quit, and Chantix requires you to eat before you take it. So...my replacement for that morning cigarett is a granola bar with my coffee. (instead of a cigarett with my coffee) In short ...I sought all of my main triggers and set out to change the routine of habit before I actually quit. ;) So...angelcapp...if you do not have the plan in place...do it now. It's ok to still take the chantix if you smoke tomorrow, just reset your quit date. hugs...auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,919 Amount Saved: $275.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 0 Mins: 50 Seconds: 6

Hi angelcapp - Just thought I would pop by and wish you the best of luck for tomorrow. Stressful times come to us all and I hope that you are feeling a little better - one thing you must realise is that smoking a cigarette will not help to change a situation. All smoking does is feed your body's addiction - if you weren't doing it now, perhaps the stressful situation would come and test you on your next quit. Bite the bullet - go for it, lovely! We'll be right here with you! I agree with you Rose, however please do not feel you are 'cheating' in your quit. Personally I feel any tool that helps someone quit smoking is valid. Angelcapp, like Rose, I also missed many quit dates because of the fear - this addiction can play major head games. In fact, once I was into the withdrawel (I'm a cold turkey), it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had imagined! Hang in there, Ericon My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 194 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,805 Amount Saved: $1406.5 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 21 Mins: 0 Seconds: 24

Angelcapp - I'm on day 5 of my quit. The day before my quit day was more stressful than the quit day itself! The apprehension and anticipation just about did me in. And, I also had some very stressful life events that happened at the same time. For a moment I thought (because of these particular stressful situations going on)- "this isn't a good time to quit". Then I realized that (1) That is my addiction talking and (2) There is never a good or bad time. My point is, I can appreciate how you feel and I encourage you to hang in there! Take it one moment at a time. You can and will get through today. You can and will start your new healthy life tomorrow!
