Day 3

17 years ago 0 96 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks, that was day 3 im now just 5 mins into day 9 and although the withdrawls seem to be long over and gone the cravings and mood swings are the next battle. I was just gonna say I wish I got paid to go threw all this crap but I suppose I am getting paid i.e saving $6 a day and getting healthy plus losing an addiction. Hey Wazz. I can't believe how sane you sound. At day 3, I was like Regan off The Exorcist, complete with spinning head and spewing green goo. I was truly and utterly awful. I do remember that feeling you're talking about, it's almost like someone's slipped a little something into your water - don't worry, it goes away. I can't remember when though ... it's probably like the wind, you only notice it when it's there. I've watched your quit from the beginning and I think you have a great attitude - the counting hours thing works too - before you know it you will have one week under your belt, the worst week and it will only get better from there. Any time you're tempted to smoke, just give it 5 minutes and then see how you feel. Still want one, give it five minutes then see. That's how we cobble together weeks, months and years. cydeb Good to see that you are moving through this. You will feel a bit like a bobble head doll for a period of time. It does pass, it is really a sign that your body is already beginning to heal and change. Work can be a trigger for many of us simply because we used cigarettes as a way of delaying or getting away from doing tasks that may be unpleasant. Just try to stay focused on the quit and when the urge comes, use a distraction technique. Really the craves do not last much more than 5 minutes, and once you begin to recognize when the need to smoke arises and equally as importantly why the need has arisen, you will automatically go into distraction mode. I won't tell you any of this is easy, because frankly, it was not for me. However, I will tell you with hand on heart that it does pass. One sweet day you will come to realize that you do not need to smoke and in fact you never ever needed to smoke. Good luck and post often, there are many people here who want you to suceed... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 319 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,570 Amount Saved: $3,349.50 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 6 Mins: 56 Seconds: 40

Hi Wazz, Congratulations on making it 3 days. It is hard! I just woke up to day 4. I'm not quite as light-headed today as I was yesterday, but a little nervous because I'm going back to work for the first time today. It's one thing to hang around the house for 3 days letting myself do whatever my body felt like (mainly sleep), but now I have to be sharp! Should be interesting. I am just as committed as ever, but still very nervous. Please think brave thoughts for me, as I will for you. We can do this together! Hey Wazz, That light-headed, unfocused, strange feeling is, from what I understand, the effect of detoxing from the carbon monoxide poisoning that the cigarettes have been delivering to your body every day. It was, for me anyway, the most disconcerting side-effect of quitting smoking and MAN was I glad when it went away! CONGRATULATIONS on making it this far! WOOOHOOOO!
