Haven't slept well for a couple of nights, so last night I took my patch off before bed and slept so well. This morning I got up and bang it hit the biggest craving ever, I practially ran down stairs and lit a cig - oh **** - big mistake!! Put a patch on and said no way - this is stupid, managed to get through the morning and through dinner, but have just cracked again and had another What is bloody wrong with me - I have just done 23 days of hell, heck and blah and have now just thrown in the towel???? Fed up, cheesed off and might as well reset my meter and set a quit day and begin all over again Joanne My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 611 Amount Saved: 120 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 48 Seconds: 6

I'm back with you all, The slip has given me one hell of a kick and it wasn't nice at all. I'm not going to let one day of nictoine ruin it for me - I was feeling so much better and I now feel really ill, I'm sure it is the nicotine that has made me feel so bad. Going to stay close to you all and fight it all the way. Thanks for all your kind words, Onward and upward I go Joanne

Thanks everyone The patch is most definatley back on, The cigs were to hand as hubby left them out on view last night so I knew where I could get one from. The last 23 days have been hard work and I'm not going to thrown it all away for a slip, I'm back with you all now and I'm not going to let this beat me, Joanne My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 613 Amount Saved: 120 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 52 Seconds: 58

Brick Wall - Please ask your husband to keep his cigs in his car - out of your sight. If he has to smoke at night - please ask him to hide them and not tell you where they are. Don't let him sabotage your quit. Tell him that if he cigs are out in plain sight that you will run them under the faucet. Protect Your Quit! You are doing a great job! Keep on going! Don't give up! Hey its ok....Just a MINOR slip....Pick yourself back up! Throw out the smokes,...If they are not there you can't light up. I also slipped after 3 mos. I smoked for 3 mos...now I'm back here posting everyday. Its been 4 days now and I'm fighting it every step of the way. Stay here and post and post. Rethink your reasons for quitting...reward yourself for being honest and getting back to program. YOU CAN DO IT My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 41 Amount Saved: $16.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 31 Seconds: 5

Glad to hear it Joanne. Be aware and be prepared. The junkie will be at you even harder on you now. Be more determined to face the temptation. Just one is never just one. One is too many and 1,000 will never be enough. Ride it out. It's tough but it is worth it. If it wasn't I sure wouldn't be here now and neither would anyone else. Congratulations on a wise choice! Don't let that cigarette defeat you Brick Wall. The junkie is telling you that you may as well give up and try later. The person inside of you, the one that wants the freedom from the enslavement of smoking, should be telling you that THIS FIGHT ISN'T OVER! 23 days is awesome. One cigarette cannot eliminate all you have learned in that 23 days. What you do with your meter doesn't mater at all. It's what you do with your quit that matters. Let this be a lesson learned to you. A lesson saying that is the end of it! No More! N.O.P.E. Don't beat yourself up, get ticked off at the addict inside of you. Reclaim your life and refuse to be defeated! You CAN do this. No one cares about the meter, no one cares that you smoked one cigarette, what we do care about and what should concern you is that you quit smoking and give yourself a chance at a better, longer, happier, healthier life. Smoking will kill you. You are not defeated unless you quit quitting. Somehow... I don't see that happening with you. You have come too far to go back. Ditch the smokes! Brick Wall, I'm glad that you're not giving up!!! Yes, it's hard, but it's soooooooo worth it!!! I'm glad that you've learned from this! The patch is obviously helping you, and 23 days was too soon to take it off. You CAN take it off at night and then put it on first thing in the morning if the dreams are really bothering you. Just remember that even if you have horrible cravings, they're nothing that you can't get through! They WILL pass! Just be patient and keep with the patch for the recommended amount of time. Learn from this and don't let it happen again! That's a slippery slope, so please, do NOT let yourself go down that path! Stay strong! Crave the Quit!
