What helped? FRESH AIR, baby! FREAKin' FRESH AIR!!! And a few FAFREAKS on this site (you know who you are) helped a ton, too! (Cold Turkeys get fresh sometimes...) Don't smoke, okay? It's bad for you. mc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 743 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,659 Amount Saved: $1,931.80 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 8 Mins: 16 Seconds: 10

Knowing for sure that 8 times out of 10 I felt bad after smoking: sometimes light-headed and almost always hungry! Knowing that my quit meter was ticking away. Knowing that whatever I was feeling a cigarette wouldn't fix it or improve it. And just reminding myself that now I am a non-smoker. Knowlege of what happens to your body after the last cigarette. Knowing that improvements where immediate helped me want to get to the next phase! And of course mints. Ice Water; deep breaths (tons of them); and taking five minutes at a time. I kept telling myself... Just 5 more minutes. I've gone xx hours, I'm not stopping now. And of course my SSC quit buddies! They really saved my life. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 804 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,080 Amount Saved: $2,814.00 Life Gained: Days: 72 Hrs: 14 Mins: 42 Seconds: 2

It's "only" been 12 days for me now but here is what helped sunflower seeds at work deep breathing drinking a ton of water watching the quit meter thinking of myself as an addict, not just a smoker but most of all, this site and the people on it :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 165 Amount Saved: $99.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 23 Mins: 19 Seconds: 11

Straws, self talk and putting it off until tomorrow. If I really had a bad day I would tell myself if I feel that bad again tomorrow then I could think about a smoke, well tomorrow was never bad enough to worry about it. And my quit meter. I have gotten to the point now that I forget how many days I have, but in the beginning I knew and I wanted to watch the meter rise and shine and it helped keep me going. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 191 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,775 Amount Saved: $2,015.05 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 9 Mins: 57 Seconds: 33

After I made it one day I didn't want to loose that day. then two and three and so on I just keep telling myself I don't want to loose the clean time I have. The more days I get the more I don't want to loose them. This and another site gave me information that I didn't have in previous quits. The people here helped me keep going. And my own stubbornness kept me marching forward.
