Trying to get into the spirit

Hi MJ,
I wish I felt in a better mood, but the challenge is doing despite my mood.  I thought of others who have physical disabilites, and how much more difficult it must be.

You are all so inspiring! Going out, doing things, making plans, getting a tree... It all seems overwhelming to me at this point, but you give me hope for the future.

Hi everyone:  It's been snowing every single day and not much sun to go and take some pics of the trail - how pretty it is with overhanging boughs, etc.  But I do have a pic of the entrance to one of the trails, just behind our house so thought I'd put that one up.  Over the years Davit has cut out a couple of good trails and this yr. I got all my boughs from some overhangs on the path which needed trimming back.  I often think back when I lived in the city and how much I used to pay for a bundle of boughs!

Hi Hugs,

Glad things are better :)

Hi Davit,

It sounds lovely where you and Sunny are :)

Hi all.

Glad we got the tree when we did. Snowfall warnings now. It is lovely and already the tractor tracks are covered. I could sit and watch it come down all day. Supposed to get 6 inches over night. Supposed to snow for a couple of days. We need to venture out for baking stuff and ink for the printer but here we do it when we can. Big trucks pack the snow before the plow truck can remove it and it can be very slippery. It's only 20 Km to town though.

As for Christmas spirit, it will come sometime, bit early for me.

Davit.

Hi Vincenza & Shari - thanks for your support.  It seemed so lonely yesterday.

I just sent an email, so a commitment I made won't be done until wednesday or thursday.  I have the emotional space I needed now, and things are normal.

Hi Sunny,

What a magical way to feel the Christmas spirit.  You'll have to take pictures of your tree once it's up

Hugs, Hope you're having a better day today.  What are things you can do to let go of the lingering feelings from your conflict a few days ago?  Some people will ceremoniously wash their hands, do so deep breathing, yoga, write out your thoughts/feelings... what has helped you?

Hi Hugs,

I understand your disappointment.  I felt that way going to the yarn shop to socialize and knit with women, but when I got there (even though they were supposed to be open) the store was closed and nobody was there, so I just came home.  My daughter was coming later that night, so I just focused on that positive and forgot about the knitting group.  That's why I'm glad I started a meet up group.  Because, sometimes I can't depend on other places being open (when they should) or the social events are far and few between, like the bird club.  Hopefully, my coffee group will want to remain together weekly and hopefully, there will always be someone to have a cup of coffee with.  But, I'm not sure how to deal with expectation and disappointment.  Are there coping skills for that?  I guess expecting to have a good time whether anyone shows up or not?  Or, find an alternate social event to attend?  Now, I wonder how people cope with that?  I don't want to change Sunny's thread topic, so I'll work on that myself for awhile :)  I thought that was great that you went to a trade show, I understand, sometimes doing an alternate activity isn't the same, but I'm proud of you for doing it anyway.  I would have done the same thing, if I had an alternate for the yarn shop that day, but there wasn't anything else going on.  Sorry about your conflict a few days ago.  Sometimes those bugger feelings hang on for a few days.  I always think I'm great at getting over stuff , like conflict, and then some thought will make me revisit it again.  It's hard to shake them off sometimes.  Hopefully, they won't linger for much longer.

Hi Shari,
I wasn't so much trying to get into the spirit, as just doing social stuff this month, centered around food.  I just feel stale, and was blown up a couple of days ago in a conflict.

Today's outing was just another typo in the newspaper, so I ended up somewhere with no event, but it was really promising on paper(I couldn't phone ahead today either).   I had an alternative trade show nearby, but was so disappointed, that I just wished to go home.

Still reeling from that conflict a few days ago, I'm not really myself

Hi Sunny :)

It looks like you succeeded in getting into the Christmas spirit with the beautiful description of finding the Christmas tree.  I felt like I was there :)  Can't wait to see the avatar :)

My daughter and I got into the Christmas spirit today and went to Pier 1.  They're slogan is:  Find what speaks to you, which is very clever and it also works - ha ha :)  My daughter got almost all of her shopping done there and I had already gotten my shopping done before.  So, I picked up a few things for myself :)  I found a beautiful owl coffee mug, a small stuffed animal toy owl and a beautiful frog tea candle holder and one package of 30 tea candles scented like the ocean :)  Everything was reasonably priced, so all the better :)

What is everyone else doing, to get into the Christmas spirit?

Shari
