Tunnel vision limits some peoples ability to grow. For everything negative there is a positive it is still your choice which to use. Some people like to live in their safe narrow point of view. I believe you can learn and get something positive from every thing negative just by turning it over and looking at the other side. Shades of CBT.

When failures become feedback on how to improve, obstacles become surmountable.

I read something interesting about mindsets.  A set mindset believes you are born with whatever ability you have.  A growth mindset believes that your intelligence is unlimited and with hard work, persistence and perseverance you can accomplish anything.

What is "right" varies with the person, so reframing is an art, not just a science.

I suppose like everything else failure depends on a persons perception.

I don't consider lost projects failure. Nor do I consider not being able to do something that is beyond my skill failure. Nor do I consider not being able to do something for physical reasons, mental reasons or health at the time to be failure.

So what is left. Brown is wrong. Failure can be a person if they refuse to follow instructions or if they just don't try. But I know what he means. I just think that if you did your best then failure is an event, if you didn't try then failure is a person.

I suppose others will see this different, but this is just a forum so I am allowed my opinion.
Some people will gladly blame anyone or anything for their failures. And that I think is definitely failure.

You can try, but sometimes things get in the way. This is where acceptance and attitude make a big difference. I will never stop pushing trying to be positive to the best of your ability. If you are not willing to try then how am I supposed to help. It starts with ones self.

Accepting both 'winning " or "losing" is necessary, though.
