Natural cure for Wheezing

Hi Carmie,

I wrote you on another post. I did read that that yogurt is good while taking antibotics, they are making me tired, I am taking Keflex, what antibotic did you take??  I am pretty sure the "lump" is a swollen "something" normally, thank God, I do NOT get the lump in the throat symptom of anxiety, a lot of others but not that, this is severe ear pain and left side throat pain especially when swallowing or coughing and clearing my throat is murder, it feel like its ripping apart! I actually went to the doctor I was so sick and scared, I was nervous and scared but I did it Carmie! I hope he diagnosed correctly, I do NOT want a camera down my throat, what if its throat cancer? I am so scared, the only thing that makes me feel a little better, is it came on very very quick, more like a virus than cancer, he did not think it was strep.  Could a swollen vocal cord cause ear and throat pain?

The only thing I can think of is early last week I took my dogs for a walk and they tried to attack another dog! I was yelling and screaming at them for about five minutes, could that cause my ear and throat symptoms, I yelled hard, but it came two days later not the next day. I am so confused, I went to the Doctor but I am still sick, I pray the medicine will work.

Debora and Red:
My thoughts and prayers are with both of you.  When I had strep throat for a week, it was extremely challenging.  Debora, I wanted to let you know that the antibiotics made my stomach very upset.  I called my doctor about it and they recommended a few things that helped.  They recommended yogurt with active cultures in it or a probiotic.  I didn't have any appetite so I opted for the probiotic - and that helped.  Also, taking the antibiotic with a meal helped.
Did you know that I once experienced the lump in the throat feeling as a symptom of my anxiety?  I found out that some people on this site have also experienced that (and the nurse at work).  Naturally, if you are sick, that will also make your throat feel swollen, I wanted to let you know about my experience.
If you can get to them - the Talaria podcasts really helped me to get through my week of illness.
I wish both of you good health, soon,
Carmie

Thank you Red and Ashley,

For you're kind words. I am trying to stay calm and positive. The wheezing seems to have gotten worse and its scaring me, I am hesitant to use the inhaler a lot because of my scary episode, the new one does not have the side effects, yet I hope, but does NOT seem to be helping the breathing or wheezing, if that would go away I know I would feel better and more secure, the throat is still very sore but a bit better, I am just so achy and sick I hope the meds kick in and I am better in a few days, my husbands meeting is tuesday and he will find out whether he is out of a job or not and it does not look good according to his boss that talked with higher-ups, I dont know whether that or the antibotic is causing the nausea and upset tummy probably both, we will lose our insurance coverage not too mention the income, and I know my husband will be devastated.

Thank you for praying Red, I need them more than ever now it seems, thank you so for saying you will pray, and I for you, I hope we both get better very very soon!

Hi Deb,
So good to hear that the nurse called in a different inhaler for you..You are so brave to call..That takes a lot of courage..
As for me I am just starting to eat soft food again..No fruits or Vegetables just yet. They said to ease back into a fiber diet very slowly..Your so right about the nuts..I am not going to touch anymore nuts, raisins or popcorn again..they do cause me lots of problems..You sound a little better than you did earlier..I am so sorry you are having the extra stress of worrying about your husbands job and all. I got out of the house for a little while since I talked to you and picked up some snacks and Gatorade. I am feeling a little better now too..I have been trapped in the house for over a month trying to get well and just had to get out for a bit before I went mad..Something other than dr visit and such. All the sitting and waiting is so hard and makes the anxiety so much worse. Do you find that too? I am going to see if I can find something to help me relax for the rest of the evening..Maybe look at a magazine or watch a dvd? What do you like to do to unwind and forget about about your worries? May be you can try that to tonight.
I am going to pray for us both Debora..and put my faith and trust in him, that he is leading me down the right path. He will give us the strength that we need and help us find the help we need too. All we have to do is believe in him and ourselves.

We are strong. I know we can do this. We are going to get well again.

Thank you Red,

The doctors nurse called in another inhaler called Xopenex". Have you ever heard of it? The nurse said less side effects than the other one, they give it to pregnant women, I used it, I was very nervous but I did it, some got in my mouth?! but I hear that is normal, it did NOT give me a rapid heartbeat and shaky, thank God, but if did not seem to help the wheezing Red, the other was only ten dollars this was sixty dollars! My husband was furious insurance did not cover this one, probably because its better and less effects, I have to use it for that price my husband would be so mad, I am so sick Red and scared, my voice is gone and I have a painful lump in my throat and the wheezing! Whenever I get sick I panic, I thought going to the doctor and being under his care would help, it really was hard to go to the Doctors, I just hope and pray I am getting good treatment, I feel like I am going to die and my husband is probably getting laid off next week! I am just such a mess now.

I hope you are feeling better. I was reading up about diticuloutous, that you have and I know I spelled it wrong, sorry, I am praying for you, what I read was encouraging, lots of blueberries and fruits and fiber they say, very little red meat. I wanted to tell you whenever I eat nuts, which is rare, I get a crampy colicky pain up my left side, and I hear nuts are hard to digest, do nuts do that to you? they said that was common with ditivolutis, I hope you are better, I pray both of us feel better soon.

I have a horrible stomach ache I dont know if its the meds, my late monthly not coming OR nerves, it just adds to the misery, I will be so happy when this broncitis, wheezing and swollen sore throat go away, I think my vocal cords are damaged. I hope the doctor knew everything and did not miss anything, I thought I would feel better. I will try the humidifer, I hope to hear from you soon Red, thank you, Deb.

Debora,
So sorry to hear you are not feeling well today..I think that it is good that you are calling the clinic before they close today. That takes a lot of courage to do. I also need to call my doctors office Monday because they wrote my mail in Rx for the wrong amount. I also have to see a kidney specialist on Tuesday and have a colonoscopy scheduled for next month on top of that..I can see where being ill could make your anxiety worse. I too am very afraid of all the doctors appointments, tests, and phone calls and it is causing me to have lots of anxiety..The fear of the unknown is so hard to take. I really don't know of any natural remedy for wheezing..I tried a inhaler once and it made me feel worse too. I wonder if a humidifier or dehumidifier would help..My doctors had me use a humidifer when I had a wet cough caused by the meds I was taking. Of course your situation is unique to you so calling the doctor is always the best choice.  Maybe one of the Educators here on the site can help us to come up with a way to deal with all of the anxiety and panic we are having as it relates to our illnesses and the fear/anxiety/and panic we are feeling..My heart goes out to you today..I hope we will both be feeling better soon..
