Sharp Stabbing Pain

Hi Debora!
I am finally better!  It feels so nice to be well again!  I returned to work yesterday.  I got scared at one point and went to see the nurse, just to have her check some vitals - I was fine - my glands were just a little swollen.  We talked a little bit about my anxiety.  She revealed that she too has suffered from anxiety in the past.  It is always nice to speak to someone who understands!
I decided to call the doctor's office last night (they have staff on duty until 7 pm - I love this!) to ask for advice about the swollen glands (they seemed to be getting worse).  I apologized for calling so much during the last week and the nurse on duty was so kind.  She said that they are always there to help us with our health concerns - that is their service to me.  I had mentioned that one of the doctors I had to speak with off-hours this week didn't seem to share this opinion.  She said "Well, that is not YOUR problem.  You should never hesitate to call if you are worried".  The doctor working with her was great too.  He called in an emergency steroid prescription in case my throat got worse throughout the night (We are in the beginning of a snowstorm and it could be slippery getting out today),  I was just so pleased with the care they gave me.  I am writing them a note today to thank them.  They set a wonderful example!
Most importantly, how are you doing?   I hope that you find a meaningful way to celebrate your anniversary.  Do something that you can handle.  Maybe walk the dog together and hold hands?  I hope you have an opportunity to just take one quiet moment to honor each other and your love.  I am very happy for you.
Take care and keep in touch,
Carmie

Thank You Josie for asking. It has calmed down a little and I am glad and hope it stays like that. It may have been a UTI that I flushed out with lots of water and cranberry or part of my cycle, I am in perimenopause so everything is different, there was a time I could set my clock with my monthly now its all over the place. I am glad it stopped and I hope it continues to be gone, thank you for being concerned. Today is my wedding anniversary and I am so hoping it will be a good day for me.

Thanks for the support and knowledge everyone.

Deb,

How are you doing today? Any more sharp pains?  The members gave a lot of good insight, take what  you need and keep it close.

Keep us posted.

Thanks Carmie,

You sound good and I am very glad, how are the antibotics going? Are you feeling any better? I hope they kicked in for you.

The ten questions do help Carmie. But sometimes the scary thoughts are so prevelant they take away common sense!

Late last night I decided to read my other ladies magazine before bed to relax me. This was a mistake. This particular magazine had SO many scary health articles in it. I could not believe it. First about a woman in her thirties having a heart attack, followed by an article about heart disease and how it seems so many people are at risk! Then a article about a woman having a stroke, followed by a cancer article, a murder victim article, and several ads for medicines with side effects!

I tell you Carmie I litterally through the magazine across the room, it really upset me, I understand they have to write things to make people aware of health problems but jamming it down you're throat over and over and over again......I do not understand it, the media is making hypocrondriacs out of all of us! I know this was just a particular issue and not all their issues are like this, I wish they would write more inspiring stories, recipes, and positive articles, I make a point not too read the newspaper or scary shows. Its a shame a womans magazine would do this, making people aware is alright but scaring them to death is NOT good! I could not sleep well and was very anxious all night, I have to really watch what I read now.

I hope you are well. Please let me know how it is going. Did you go back to work? I hope you are resting and feeling good.

Hi Debora!
It sounds like you had the start of a good evening and then things went wrong quickly.  I hate it when that happens.  I noticed that Vincenza conveniently posted the Questioning Anxious thoughts questions.  Have you ever tried asking taking the time to go through that exercise?  There are so many good CBT techniques - that one seems to help me when I am in the thick of things.  It might be really great if you take a look at those questions and apply them to how you are feeling.  What do you think?
I know that it is awhile before you can see your physician so it might be best to focus on right now.  Good for you for not looking things up on Google - I made a similar effort when I was down and out last week.
I'm hoping you can rest and relax and take notice of what you are feeling without needing to make any judgments.  Think about the goals you have set for yourself this year. I saw them posted and I have confidence that you will achieve them and I hope that you take great pride and joy in all of the steps you take towards making those goals!

I really made an effort to, at least for tonight to NOT dwell or focus on bodily symptoms. We were eating dinner a few hours ago and I was reading a article in one of my women magazines, very bland mudane article about appliances, how to keep them clean and prolong their lasting lives, nothing disturbing or scary and I was enjoying my dinner. All of a sudden out of nowwhere, I had a horrible sharp stabbing pain in my lower left side, by my ovary, it was brief but SO painful! I actually dropped my fork and it took my breath away, and I was not even thinking about it, in fact it was the calmest time of my entire day. I cannot understand that? Why does this come so quickly and unexpected with no reason? It really scared me the pain was bad.

Then I start thinking about ovarian cancer or cyst or infection, I figure "a pain that bad and sudden has to be something wrong" I do not want too look it up or google it, that I hear is the worst thing a person like me can do. I am trying to not dwell, it could be gas, I noticed I have had bad gas the last few days which I normally do not have. I hope its nothing fatal.

Do other members ever have sharp stabbing pain in the lower tummy or anywhere? when they are not even upset? and how do you deal with it? I dont want to get all scared again, I calmed down and I want too keep calm. Easier said than done I know.
