Just to add to this, I like the "love rollercoaster" song by The Ohio Players, but the relationship "rollercoaster" was always hard to ride - I like a little more stability
I think it must be draining to "react" this way, but I've found I've had some emotional reaction in the past to simple things, where others may ignore them. I've heard that some people have affiliations of colour to smells or vice versa, so I wonder what's behind it?
I think I'd rather not have such a strong reaction to things, so I would have more energy. eg. Saturday I was calm even when something perilous happened as we tried to change my tires. However, I'm going to get help from the automobile dealership to fix something.
According to specialists we are born with a tendency toward positives. Negatives are learned, some as survival skills. Obviously then negatives would be more recognized and seem to be more than positives but I think you are right. If you keep score I think by looking for the positives that we don't recognize because they are not disturbing you will find there are lots of them. There must be or there would be more depression in our lives.
I'm going to do this score keeping to see if when I have a bad day it really is or if I just am not recognizing the balancing positives. This score keeping could become another CBT coping skill in my bag of coping skills.
Typical days have had severe swings in mood, but I noticed something today.
A nightmare left me grumpy as I went to the gym so I was down.
At the gym, I saw a wonderful athletic performance on the large screen tv which brought my mood up.
In the locker room, a man plunked his clothes on my shoes, and my dropped.
At the grocery store, forgot to bring bags and change. Without a quarter, I had to line up for change, but the cashier gave me a quarter without even asking for it later, bringing my mood up.
As I completed packing my groceries in my car, I found a set of ear muffs, and hailed a car, who claimed it, bringing my mood up since I had done something for someone.
It seems that life might not be all that negative, if I kept "score", is it? Any comments?
