Close to an Attack

Thank you, the headache kind of subsided. It kind of settled in my right temple by my eye, I have been reading a lot lately so it may have been eyestrain, I rested my eyes today so that helped. I am glad you are having a good day Carmie that is so wonderful too hear! I would love a massage but hubby is way too tired I think, he is putting up christmas lights outside and it takes awhile. I think you are right Ashley my head was hurting from tension and worry and too much reading, that is a more positive thought than the others I was thinking. I like you're post Sunny about being her 20 years later! That was comforting and positive! I do not want to waste anymore time Sunny worrying, I have spent so much time already with darned worry.

Today I am concerned about my med. I wrote another post about it. I am so med-phobic, I took a dose I normally do not take and was afraid to take my evening dose, I doubt I will have withdrawal but I hope no anxiety, I worry about overdose even through my nurse says it will not happen, but I am very sensitive to meds, lower is better for me, some people take 3 or 4 pills a day, but I would be afraid, I am mad because I messed up, I will go back on schedule tommorow, I usually dont use klonopin for sleeping for anxiety, but I did not want to sleep just an hour and I knew sleep would get rid of the headache. I can always take a quarter if I need it, that probably is more 'placebo" effect I know! Just trying to get though the day! Thank you all for caring about me and sharing good advice

Hi D:  One of your questions got me thinking.  I remember going through the worry of every symptom which i thought was a signal of something much more than it really was.  How did I get over these negative, scary thoughts?  well, with time.  Simple as that.  Here I am 20 yrs. later and still not dead, so all that worrying about the symptoms was unnecessary.  I didn't die afterall.  Yes, I got sick legitamately sometimes, but here I am nonetheless.
Same for you, all the worry you have had about your symptoms and you are still here.  better to enjoy your day, symptoms or no, and look at the positives instead of letting the negatives drag you down.  You can't recapture all those lost days of needless worry.  Put them aside.  Go and enjoy yourself with something you like.  Don't lose any more time/days to negatives.

Hi Debora,

If you are concerned about your headache it is best to consult a health care professional for a proper diagnosis. Headaches could be related to a number of issues and conditions.  In a lot of cases headaches are related to dehydration so be sure you are drinking a lot of water. Carmie is right, your headache does sounds like a tension headache but check with your doctor if it persists.

Good morning, Debora,
I am not worried about the strep today.  I am writing during a very good moment, actually.  Has your headache gone away?  It sounds a bit like a tension headache.  A few weeks ago, I was having a stressful and anxious day and I had similar symptoms.  I had a cup of tea.  I listened to my progressive relaxation podcast  and then I took a long nap.  I woke up feeling really good.  I hope that your headache isn't still around but maybe these kinds of things would help.  Maybe you can convince your husband to give you a relaxing massage?  That sounds so nice that I might suggest it to my own!  Wishing you a good day today!

Thank you Davit and Carmie,

The headache went away and now its back! Its like a pain behind the eye that is moving all over the head, it scares me because normally my anxiety and stress go too the stomach head pain a little new for me, I took my  pill and I ate something so hopefully it will go away, I just have to KEEP telling myself its not a stroke just a tension headache and nerves or perhaps a little hunger or reading too much, I did take a early afternoon walk to burn off some energy, and I slept pretty well so I do not understand why the headaches are so bad, I hope they go away a CAT scan is not something I want, I probably dont need it  I just need to relax a little, I know I am worrying about the holidays, last year this time I was pretty much on top of my game, this year I am not cards, cookies, shopping, gifts etc.......I hope and pray I can do and survive it, maybe the headaches are just stress I hope.

I know what you mean about the strep throat Carmie, exactly what you are talking about! My neighbor had a cold and came out a few days ago to talk to me, and of course I worry about getting it. I do not think you have strep, you dont have a fever, and youre glands swell and you cannot swallow good, the good news is anti-botics wipe it out in 2-3 days but I do not think you need them, I so worry about health too, when I get sick or bodily symptoms I go way down emotionally! so way down.

That scene you described sounded so peaceful Davit! The snow covered trees, dark blue and bright, in fact I am trying to visualize that right now as a calming safe place too go in my mind! How I wish I could have snow here, so pretty and calm.

My neck pops and grinds too Davit I think that is what started the headache the other day, but today this one is "different" I have a pain behind my eyeball and its more in the temples and side than the back, God I hate too analyze every little ache and pain! Like I am focusing on it now and of course the more you think about it the more worse it becomes, I know.

How did other members, after now having panic attacks get over that "I am dying every day" feeling, its a terrible horrible feeling to think everyday will be you're last, if I could conquer that I know I would feel better its so hard through, but I am working on it like we all are.

Debora

What do you do for what is obviously a tension head ache? What do you do to relax the tense muscles? I use heat on my neck for the muscles and cold on my forehead with tiger balm on my temples to increase blood flow. No coffee, that just tightens up everything unless it is caffeine withdrawal, then I will have coffee or tea. Lots of fluids.
My neck pops and grinds, I guess I just don't notice it much. My Odontoid is deteriorating. (the pin your head rotates on)
I'm a mess but a happy mess, Positive makes it easier to live with.
I do not like headaches though and it takes a bit of work to accept them. This is Agoraphobia, losing control to something you have little control over. Anxiety forming, but it will pass. I use the time to relax and shuffle my priorities.
I'm glad I don't have a headache today because it snowed and the trees are covered, the sky is dark blue and it is very bright out. All and all a very beautiful day to be alive.

Hi Deborah -
How are you doing today?  I hope that your headache has gone away.  I worry about my health, too.  Both of my kids were playing this weekend with friends who became diagnosed with strep throat.  So, of course, my thoughts turn to their health and I am concerned for them.  In fact, last night I convinced myself that I was coming down with strep.  I was able to quickly calm myself down by taking my temperature and seeing that all was normal - I didn't even have a very sore throat.  It's times like these when the "Questioning Anxious thoughts" work comes in handy!  In fact, I may keep that worksheet handy today as just while writing this, I had a few anxious thoughts.  Keep us updated with how you are doing.  I wish peaceful times for you and me both!

Thanks Carmie and Davit,

What a wonderful story about you're daughter! That warmed my heart! Thanks for wishing me peaceful moments.

I had a scary situation at about 4:00am I woke with a horrible headache, I dont get a lot of headaches it generally hits my tummy, I do not think it was panic, I got very scared, of course I started too think stroke or something bad, then I remembered my neck has been hurting and my dog pulled me hard and it probably caused head pain from the stiff neck, that helped, Today its a little better, the weather is changing so maybe that is it, I am trying to find a "normal cause" for it instead of fatal!

Did anyone ever hurt their neck, like a stiffy achy feeling and then it caused a really really severe headache? My neck has been cracking even! Is this bad? I guess what I am asking is if a neckache could cause a headache, or a drastic change in the weather? I so do NOT want to worry about this! Maybe I need a new pillow! It is scaring me but I am so trying too think positive!

Good morning, Debora!  I wish you lots of peaceful moments today.
I can share that I was feelinge anxious last night. My husband was asleep and my daughter was such a wonderful resource for me.  Just by talking to her about my feelings, I quickly began to feel better.

When I felt calmer, I shared that with her and thanked her.  She said (and she hasn't read the chapters on CBT as far as I know...) "remember how this feels and when you need to find peace again, think of this time".  She is eleven.  I tell her that she would make a wonderful therapist.  I might have to start paying for her services!
