Sunny& Davit,
I guess I can minimize my odds of getting the flu if I remember that I didn't wipe down the treadmill, etc. by doing it in the future, but then I assume everyone showers, anyway.

I did have the flu shot a couple of weeks ago, and my conscience is clear there.  When my senior parent gets it though, it trips my panic cycle.

One guy I despised at work was a real coward.  When his friends were ill, and wouldn't leave work to recover in our cubicle city, he wouldn't say anything to them.  But if even cleared my throat, this bully would ask me if I had a flu shot, or how long I wasn't feeling well.

I wish I had the courage to confront this behaviour, but those days are gone, and I'm trying to live in the present more

Hi Hugs:  sounds a bit like a control issue.  As though if you knew where it came from you could understand it, or better yet, eradicate it.  The flu hits everyone, nothing you can do about it.  You can only take precautions such as handwashing and avoiding crowds during the flu season, good nutrition, etc. oh, and a flu shot I guess, but that doesn't cover all the flus going around.
just my thoughts.....hope it's not too bad and you get well real soon.  Chicken soup!

Hugs,

I'm the same way. I need to know even if it won't make a difference. Sorry you are sick. I haven't had the flu in over 20 years. Ever since I've had Arthritis my immune system runs steady and strong.

Ashley,
I came down with the flu, so I'm not as clear-minded right now.  I can't explain the reasons, but just know that when I understand something versus being uncertain, it make a great difference in my confidence, or accepting its truth.  Better days ahead hopefully

Hugs4U,

How does knowing who or where you caught it from benefit you? What makes this important to you?

Conversely, how does it hinder you? What makes it not important?

Hugs,

The common cold virus will last 72 hours on a smooth surface before drying out and dying.
Wear gloves :-)

Davit.    This is why wooden cutting boards are safer. Germs dry out and die.

Does anyone wonder, after they come down with some flu,, and your grandiose plans are shattered since you have to get over it, who the source of your sniffles was?

I think I get bent out of shape trying to trace my steps through the week and wondering if it was the treadmill at the gym or public transit or the church pew or the street festival.

At least I can't say I'm putting myself out there
