I am back from the doctor. He is tapering me off of Triavil (amytripuline/perhpenazine) it's basically an anti anxiety/anti depressant.
And he is trying me on Paxil. I was on Prozac before, nearly for 10 years from 1993-2003.

Does anyone else here have any history with Paxil?

He also is putting me on hydroxyzine to help me sleep.

Would like to hear from anyone about this.

Thanks,
David

Hi Wrestler,

I am glad you checked in with us, it's always great to hear from you.  However, am sorry to hear that you are struggling with disturbing panic attacks.
Your question about diazepam is a good one to ask your new psychiatrist.  Also, as I'm sure you know, everyone may react differently to the same meds.

Continue to do all the great things you are doing:   eating healthy, exercise, yoga and spending lots of time with your wonderfully supportive wife!
I hope that your experience with your new doctor is a good one and that you will pull through this challenging time.

Continue to post with us and let us know how you are doing!

If and when I need Diazapam it is the yellow 2mg ones. Only one in any 24 hour period. In the past I have taken one a day for up to a year.

It's been nearly 18 years since I went to a real one. I had seen a pschycotherapist from around 1995-2004, and then only went sporadically over the last few years. But in talking with my therapist the last 2 visits, she recommended I go to someone who could alter/change my meds if neccesary. My MD has been just giving me the same med that I was on Triavil (amytripuline/perphenazine). Those are for depression and anxiety, but I have read and heard that some of the effects of meds can become null after a while.

I've had these really bad panic attacks over the 6-8 months and think she might be right. They have only been increasing. There have been periods where I hardly have any symptoms, but then they return.

I am and have been doing the best I can to halt the panic attacks, anxieties and depression symptoms (I am sure many of you know thsy symptoms all too well), and I have even been using natural remedies over those years as well, but I think I really need a tune up. Even with all the working out, yoga, eating right and good quality of life, the anxieties still hang around.

I have just been having so much OCD over the fear of mortality. Usually I can hold those anxieties back, but when my OCD and other anxieties get really bad, it's hard to hold the really bad thoughts at bay. I just want regular worries and not worries about having panic attacks or things I cannot control. Sometimes the regular worries are what leads to the panic and anxieties, but it does not have to be that way.

I love my life with my lovely wife and we do so many fun things, but I find these symptoms getting in the way of my life now. Even work is becoming hard with my mind being bogged down with anxieties. Some days I have to take 5 mg of valium just to get through the busy section of my morning at work.

Anyway, just wanted to share my news. I want to get this under control so I can continue to enjoy my life with as little anxiety as possible.

Has anyone who has ever used diazepam found any difference between different generic versions? I used to take the pink ones, but once I switched pharmacies, they started giving me the yellow generic ones. I know they are supposed to be the same, but one never knows.

Thanks for listening,
David
