This self centred during an attack is normal and hard to break. I hope that those close to you understand this. Social activity can lessen the tendency. At least you noticed that it happens.

I learn form this activity that when I am interacting with other people I temporary forgot my problems and after the activity I feel better with myself.

When I am feeling down with anxiety or depression I am very self centered. Interacting with other people gives me the opportunity to express myself and understand that there is world outside and not everything is centered on my problems.

Good the interaction will be good for you. I still have a very good mountain bike that I don't ride much anymore. I guess I should find the time to. But then I am not as young as I think I am.

Since my nervous breakdown I am not working but fortunately I enrolled in master degree program to keep my mind busy. Besides that, I still have plenty of time available and nothing better than getting busy with some hobbies. The picture you see on my profile was taken in one organized mountain bike ride this month. There were about 50 participants and it was an wonderful morning doing a sport and talking with other people. I will repeat more often this experience.
