Sunny,
Congratulations on your success!  It sounds like you didn't have any major panic symptoms and were able to think positively throughout.  I sure wish I could take you on my next flight!  I have been feeling anxiety about multiple flights that I already know I will have to take next year including most likely, my first one alone since my panic attack on the plane.  I'll try to remember all the positive thoughts, distraction, and relaxation that you have used to be successful!

Hi everyone:  got back from my holiday yesterday.  The flying was great - I felt only a wee bit of anxiety about being up in the sky with only a thin (in my mind) aluminum shell holding us up.  I took some deep breaths, that was all I had to do.  I thought about the fun I was going to have on my way there and coming back I thought about the joy of seeing my dog again.  I had a wonderful holiday and wanted to share this success with all of you.  We CAN do it.

I am happy your busy.  It is nice that you have got a real good handle on how you are going to manage your anxiety, nice!

You will have to say how oyur holiday goes and about the flight!  Good for you!

I have been working on the program and I find it really helpful.  Thanks for saying you will be looking out for me.  It means a lot.  I will be here for you also!

Hi Crunky:  glad to have you here - I am doing great! Thanks for asking.  I've been busy with company, three separate dinners, three nights in a row.  Boy, tonight, it'll be nothing fancy just for me and hubby. lol.  So I haven't gone for my long walks, but did go for shorter ones, 15-20 minutes, more like round the block around town, which is nice too.  I'm getting ready to fly out of province for a couple of wks.' holiday. yippee, am excited about it, the little niggling thought of flying (which I can do, but don't care for) is present, but positive self talk is helpful for me.  Now, I concentrate on "what should I pack" and focus on the excitement instead of the flying itself.  Flying is necessary to get me there, that's all.  It's the end result/reward (the holiday) which I focus on and that makes me happy.
Keep up your study of this program, CBT works and keep posting.  I'll be looking out for you. :)

Sunny,

Reading your post brought tears to my eyes.  You are so right.  There are so many beautiful things in this world and I am so happy you are able to see that.  Many people are not.  Truely beautiful, thank you for sharing.

hi everyone:  a wee update - thought I'd mention that a few times during my 1-hr. walks I have felt the odd old feeling of "wish I were home already".  When this happens, I slow down, look around and appreciate the great outdoors, the trees, the river (I live near a beach) and remind myself of how lucky I am to be able to go out and enjoy all this - and I look at my dog and she is having such a great time too.  Then, things seem to fall into place, I continue and it is all o.k. and I am proud of myself for not giving up or giving in to these negative thoughts.  So, I guess what I am trying to say here, keep up the positive self-talk, the positive thinking. It works!
