Hello Ellen,

Welcome to our wonderful support community and thank you for sharing your experience with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.

Please take the time to review the program and the tools and resources available to you. Work sessions have been created that will assist you in understanding the condition better, as well as devising strategies to help you overcome your concerns. It is strongly advised that you work through the program and sessions for a successful outcome. As you record your thoughts and symptoms, you will notice improvements in small steps to help you ride the elevator alone, or eat small bites without choking, for example.

Learning to relax is an essential function for the body as this is where most healing and repair takes place. Have you tried meditation while listening to soft music? How about going for a massage - this may help your torticollis as well.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Hi all,

I am glad to be here and hope to find help for my panic/anxiety disorder with phobias. I also suffer from Dystonia a neuromuscular disease where my neck leans to my left. No cure! I seemed to only got these disorders 17 years ago when diagnosed with spasmodic torticollis. My biggest fear is choking. I can't eat or drink alone. I also have elevator, major 4 lane highway fears. I have tried an anxiety course but it was mostly generalized people in it. I went to a psychologist and learned how to get on the elevator but still can't alone. I try to stay away from food courts as I think I am going to choke. I never have though. I would love to travel but that usually means 4-6 lane roads and bridges. I think I am claustiphobic also. Does anyone have any of these specific phobias? I would love to hear from you. Going out is hard as people stare at me and that makes me even  more angrier. I am looking forward to doing the exercises on here. Relaxing is not part of me so doing the deep breathing has not helped. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Thank you kindly,
Ellen
