lilapsophobia (fear of storms and tornadoes)

16 years ago 0 5 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thank you so much! There are times when I can get a handle on the situation, but then sometimes I let the weather forcasts frighten me. I live in Illinois. There have been a lot of tornadoes in Illinois, but I have not been in a "confirmed" tornado. Ususally when we have a really bad storm, no one is knows for certain if it is in fact a tornado, or straight line winds. I see the devastation in the aftermath of tornadoes when I watch the news. It is terrifying! The only peace I get is thru prayer thru education. I read about tornadoes, and I reaize that while a tornado can strike anywhere at any time, the really bad ones are rare. Now with new technology, more people survive even the worst storms. I keep rethinking these facts over and over again.

mia0621,

Where do you live? Are tornadoes a common occurrence?
Have you begun to read through the program?
Members, do any of you share this fear? If so, what have you done to try and overcome it?
Hang in there mia, we're always here for you

I think fearing inclement weather is one of my greatest fears. I get sick with anticipation every spring. I am always frightened of being "scared to death" in the event of a tornado. Is there anyone else that shared this incredible fear?
