What does Depersonalization Feel Like

HI all.

I used to get something like that. I would get it because I was hurrying, usually decause I didn,t want to be there. Only in a store or Library. I'd be walking down an isle and my legs would stop and I'd get tunnel vision. I'd have to find a place to sit or lean till it settled. I could see myself and all my movements but it was like I was some one else looking in. Except for the very immediate area nothing existed and it was silent. It would pass in a few minutes and the first time it happened I thought I had a stroke or a blood clot. I soon learned to spot it comming on. I would start to get a fuzzy dislocated feeling and if I walked slow and concentrated it wouldn't happen but it was still uncomfortable. My pulse would go up and a few times I thought I had stopped breathing for a bit. Oddly enough It was worse when I was taking Minocycline Antibiotics. It no longer happens but I have some other odd things happen that I asociate with anxiety, mostly visual. Penacillin antibiotics disturb me also but not if they are by IV. It may be the filler in the pills. There may be an Alergy association here. I would like to hear from other people and what they think causes it.
Peace.
Davit.

This is my experience of it- i cant feel the pressure of the air around me and my body and mind go numb, and have no emotions at all not for myself or other people. Everything feels incredibly unreal and i normally start panicking, its like being trapped in a nightmare but you know its not real. I only experience this is a very powerful panic attack. I suppose its when youve got so much adrenaline going round you you have an out-of-body experience. Its pretty cool looking back on it, its terrifying when it happens.

Brandie,

This is an excellent question!

Depersonalization can often feel like you are separated from yourself and that you are an observer of your own body. People report feelings of things being hazy and could results in levels of high anxiety. This anxiety could also then increase these de-attached feelings you may be experiencing.

Although these are common reports of what depersonalization feels like, it can often be experienced differently by different people. If these symptoms continue, we encourage you to speak to your doctor about possible treatments.

Keep us posted on how you are doing Brandie, we are here for you!

I'm just wondering what depersonalization feels like to an anxiety sufferer. I'm wondering if this is what I could be experiencing? I don't quite understand the term and what it should feel like or does feel like.
