No please join in Johnny0 , your input is always welcome . Its a shame that you cant have pets , espically as you want one . Hopefully one day soon for you . I have heard of the story what you said here in England as well . I know a couple of old peoples homes locally that have 'resident' cats . The old folk love them , i think its a great idea and more homes should have them .
Feel free to chime in anytime. Yes we do form very toght bonds with our cats and wil go to extremes to help them. As for the hospice cat, I have seen that story too. I find it touching how the cat accompanies people near the end. As for your appartment, I am sorry you cannot have pets.
sorry to jump in in mid stream. cats have a truly wonderful energy and that purring can sure soothe people. I don't know if you've heard the story. Without appearing morbid, it has been featured on mainstream news. A cat that lives in a hospice and goes and lies with the people just before they pass. The cat seems to sense when the time is near.
My office mate has a very valuable cat. it got sick recently and accumulated $8000 in vet bills. The vet had pity on them and dropped it to $4800. Just shows the tremendous bond that we form.
My apartment right now is very strict against pets and has an immediate eviction for anyone trying to get away with it. I hope that I will have the chance to have a cat again.
Thank you Miki for your kind words :) I don't know how much credit I deserve though. That cat is incredibly easy to love. Actually I have three cats. All three of them are wonderful.I have spoken about one of them only because he is the one that is sick. I have to other cats. The one who is sick is male. I have another male and a female. All three of them are wonderful. The female is smart and cute and bright eyed. She loves food! She eats everything! She eats blueberries! lol. The other male is so cute. He used to be pretty wild as we found him abandoned in the woods as a kitten. He is so beautiful. He comes and sits on my husbands lap all the time. He is daddy's little cat. But he does come see me for a good rub here and there! The one that is feeling poorly is a lap cat. He has a great loving personnality. He doesn't fuss and taking care of him is a breeze. If he neds cae he stays really calm. He is very affectionate. So those are my three cats. They are easy to love. I give them all the credit for the great relationships I have with them Lol.
Anyway, sorry, guess talking about my cats just makes this all easier. I will bring the cat to the vets next week. Till then I take god care of him and try to make sure he is as happy as can be.
Wow, thank you so much all of you for all your support. I knew how caring you were but I am still very touched by all your replies. Thank yuo so much it really helps me to see all your wonderful posts.
Thank you Koneko and DM for your understanding and lovely replies. I really do appreciate it.
I did call the vet. They will see the cat next week. I do not know what to expect but I do feel calmer about things...a bit. I am just trying to take good care of him and take it one day at a time.
Thank you again for your replies it means a lot to me!
I'm sorry to hear about your cat and how you're feeling.
I am not a pet person for this reason. As a child we had a few and I cried even when the fish died... So because I can't handle it we don't have any. I can't even imagine
I do feel for you though and can only send big hugs....
I know how you feel about your cat. I have two and they are a big part of my life. I don't have children (yet) so my kitties are pretty much like my little children. I would be absolutely devastated if I knew that I was going to lose one of them. I'm glad you love your cat so much and I know that it has a good life so even if it comes down to having to decide if your cat's quality of life isn't great anymore, feel good that you took such good care of him during his life and his last days.
Pets can really become more than just an animal in our home, through the years they show their personalities, devotion and love to us. It's really heartbreaking to know that they won't be around forever but if you've given them a good life it's ok to be sad when it's their time to go but the best thing you can do for them, I think, is always remember what they brought to your life. I'm truly sorry about your cat's condition Diva but I'm so happy to hear what great care you're taking of him and I know he appreciates it.
I hope he can turn a corner soon. Let us know how the vet visit goes!
Hello Miki, thank you for your reply. I really and truely appreciate it. I am trying my best to take care of him and I will bring him to the vets as soon as I can for a check up. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me as this is very tough on me. Thank you for your support :)
I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I have never had a cat in my life but I've had dogs all my life and the one I have right now, she is my baby (although, she's already 13 now). She always follows me everywhere and I don't think she knows she's a dog. I'm not sure about cats but as long as my dog has an appetite, she seems to recover from anything. I think it should be a good sign that he still eats from the spoon? I hope he gets better. Best wishes to him.
