Another Bad Day

Hi Vickers! Just wanted to let you know that in high stress situations I have felt like that too! As Lorlee pointed out caffeine chocolate, etc can make it worse... I find they are super uncomfortable and anxiety inducing. But really I have had that for days and am fine. SAtill got things checked by a doctor just in case but I was assured I am very healthy! If this scares you so much, there is nothing wrong with having it checked out by a doctor. But until then just remind yourself that you will be ok :) I find also, that as anxious people we focus on our own bodily sensations a lot more and blow them out of proportions a lot more. Anyway, I know I do that lol. I had to learn to just distract myself from it and challenge my thoughts about them. Also, learning relaxation and breathing techniques that helped me ccalm down helped a lot. Anyway, sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. Hang in there and remember, this too shall pass! -Diva

Hi Vicker4, It sounds like to me that you may be having heart palpitations which even though are quite scary are not life threatening. We can get them from caffeine, chocolate, peri-menopause, or anxiety. If you have had your heart checked out there is a good chance this is what it could be. I would suggest asking your Doctor about it. I have had what you are talking about for a few days at a time myself and know how upsetting they can be. It will go away though. Take care!!

Hi vickers4, Sorry to hear that you are struggling right now. I wanted to highlight something very important that you mentioned in your post "I challenged this and the panic started to go away" - Good for you! You were able to overcome these thoughts of panic! It is these types of successes that you can use to build your confidence and skills in overcoming bigger challenges and fears. Panic can cause a variety of symptoms, including the ones that you have discussed. If this discomfort persists, you may want to consult with your doctor to be on the safe side. They can provide you with the answers and information that you are needing. Keep us posted, Casey ______________________ The PC Support Team

I posted about this two days ago, but it is still happening and I am trying really hard to challenge the thoughts. I just can't seem to calm down right now. I think I have caught some kind of stomach flu or something because I don't feel good in general. But, the worst of it is that I am having a lot of indigestion. I can't lay down, sit too long or eat anything without it kicking in. It feels like my heart is jumping in my throat every few minutes. I have so much indigestion, I'm sure it's just gas or some kind of reflux or something. But, it's not like heartburn. There's no burning, just this feeling like my heart is flipping. Like when something jumps out at you and you feel your heart jump into your throat for a quick second. I challenged this and the panic started to go away. The feeling in my chest didn't go away, but the panic surrounding it did. But, like an idiot, I called my mom and asked her advice because she gets this, too. My mom is also a panicker. I told her that it's been going on for a couple days now and it just seems constant. Right off, she says you need to call your doctor because it sounds like you are having heart problems. Panic kicked in right away. I was so mad at myself for calling her! She always thinks all or nothing. So.... now I keep thinking, if this is just indigestion, why won't it go away because it's been since Saturday and should have gone away already. And I keep thinking, why does it keep happening every few minutes?! What if something is seriously wrong?! I bought some antacid / antigas medicine and it hasn't worked yet. I've only taken it once so far but it's making me freak out that it hasn't helped. Does anyone else get this when they have indigestion for days?! Any help would be appreciated!!
