Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for informing us that there is such a home page (it may help me)- It is what I was looking for all the time - some courses to fight anxiety while flying ( I even didn't hope that kind of page exists) Thanks again for sharing information.

I'm Back!!! :) Thank you so much for your support. I had a wonderful time & only had anxiety (albiet strong) for limited periods & certainly not the whole flight(s). I have actually found - that since I have done this - my anxiety is a lot less at home & work! Like I just took a very big leap forward & I am feeling a sense of freedom... I am very happy & proud. Thank you again so much, Kind Regards Toni

Toni, You've received some great advice from your fellow members. Pack your carry on with distractions and continue to challenge your thoughts. Until your flight tommorrow, focus on acheiving a relaxed state and trying to stay in that relaxed state. Keep us posted. Danielle ____________________ The PC Support Team

There is a great website called fearofflyinghelp. It has lots of video, pictures and audio clips of flying that can help with exposure before the actual flight.

There are a few other threads on here with travel advice - so I recommend searching or "flying" or something. I find that listening to relaxing music on my mp3 player helps a lot once the plane's up in the air. Take-off and landing are a lot more stressful for me. I try to focus on breathing and I try talking to the person sitting beside me - somehow forcing myself to pretend to be normal helps me not become completely overwhelmed. I told myself on my last flight, when I felt sure I was going to pass out, that it wouldn't be a big deal if I did. I would just look like I was sleeping, which is normal on a plane. Somehow that helped a lot and I - of course - did not actually pass out. Remember the tips on here for challenging anxious thoughts. Just keep focusing on how fun your trip is. When you start to feel nervous sensations, reinterpret them as being excited sensations. You're excited to be flying, and you're excited see your friend - giddy almost. Maybe that will help. Just remember: You won't pass out. You won't die. Period. You'll be fine. I hope you have a great trip! Let us know how it went.

Hi Guys, Sorry I have not been on here a lot - I had a really bad day the other day & your replies got me through it. So yes, I am still here... I am flying in the morning, alone. I am going to see my best friend who I have not seen in three years. I have always had my husband to talk me through it - or the kids keeping me busy (thats an understatement!) and I am so worried about it. I have been feeling faint & dizzy and my stomach is in knots everytime I think about it. I also feel physically sick. I am trying (really hard!!) to control my breathing and to breathe deep but I just want to cry, I feel helpless. Practical advice required (and a 6am flight is a little too early for a glass of anything! :)) - I really don't want to make a fool of myself up there. Please help...
