Rosemary, Welcome to the Panic Center and thanks for the tip. Herbal supplements may provide great therapeutic benefits. However, it is known that natural alternatives are not always safe. Some supplements have been shown to interact with medications, cause allergic reactions or aggravate certain medical conditions. We advise you to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before commencing any alternative therapy. Danielle ______________________ The PC Support Team

Hi, i'm new, this is my first visit and i'm just reading through. just wanted to say that Agnus Castus is really good for pre menstrual syndrome. I'm getting terrible anxiety and panic and it's really bad before a period, in fact i'd say i only get one good day a month now and that is on the first day of my period! However Agnus Castus really helps with the irritability side and the fatigue. i'm giving it another try now to see if it will help with my panics. Another thing i've heard is that eastern women rarely get PMS or menopausal symptoms and it's because they eat a lot of soya. I am therefore going to try and get some Red Clover since this is supposed to be an effective soya based remedy for hormonal imbalances. I'll let you know if i find out anything else! :)

Thank you all. I have noticed that I had a good 2 weeks, feeling calmer and dealing really well with my night panic attacks. And then suddendly I started to feel very anxious and had a night attack which was a little harder to shift! I am about to get my period and wonder if this is why I feel more on edge and more anxious.... It looks like it is a possibility! Something to bear in mind every month! I have tried primrose oil but have not felt any difference. Anyone tried any natural remedies that have helped?

Moochela, There is some research suggesting that hormonal changes occurring before menstruation may impact anxiety levels. Physical activity may help as this has been shown to diminish the symptoms associated with PMS. Hope this helps. Danielle _______________________ The PC Support Team

It has been proven that prior to menstruation your anxiety levels tend to increase. Mine do so every single month and it is the week prior to starting that I feel the worst physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is so bad that it is difficult for me to go to school because my anxiety peaks at this time. I have tracked my anxiety for nearly 10 months now and all of my records and reports show that I have fairly low anxiety levels for about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks then they skyrocket just prior to menstruation. Diva's advice was good and that is what I try to do. Just keeping it in mind helps to calm me down when I get really anxious. ~Isabella~

Well i have noticed i am more anxious in relations with my menstruation cycle too. As for a suggestion i am not sure what to tell you. All I do is keep that in mind. I tell myself that i am more edgy and anxious because of my menstruation cycle and so should be careful not to buy into anything my brain comes up with to scare me. That helps me fight the anxious thoughts, to know that i shouldn't beleive them, that they are just hormone induced. Now that is not a perfect solution but it is the one i have for now lol. -Diva

Does anybody find that their anxiety levels increase just before their period is due? I have noticed that just before my period I feel sluggish, more on edge which increases my anxiety and avoid more. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
