Thank you so much Tammy, danielle and toni for responding! Yes, i do have a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector too! The smell has gone done a lot. My parents came home that day and coudln't even smell it. so thank god for that! Danielle, i'm gonna try to look back and think how i can deal with this situation in a more calm way. Hopefully i can picture myself being calm and strong.....and then i can work towards that goal. thanks for the advice. Toni, your so sweet. Thanks so much for your advice! You are right, i should feel very well assured once the firefighters told me that everything is ok. Its just so hard to believe when you are thinking the most ridiculous thoughts ever. So i will work on that! Thank you for listening to me and responding. Means a lot! bye for now!

Hi Angel! I hope you are feeling more settled now? I know it would spin me out a bit - but if I had firefighters there to assure me it was not a gas leak I would feel much more at ease. If your sister smelt it too - then it has to have been something, but probably no where near as bad as you think. You have been there a few days now and you certainly would have noticed it getting worse. Everybody else is still in that house with you, it is still your home, you got anxious - like a new symptom, it takes a little getting used to. Nothing is little to us is it?? ;) Here if you need to talk, Toni

Angel, If there was a gas leak you would probably feel sick as oppose to anxious. Start challenging your thoughts, once this subsides, take a step back and see what you could do differently the next time a situation like this arises. Keep persevering, let us know how you're doing. You should get a carbon monoxide detector. Small price to pay for peace of mind. Pick up a smoke detector while you are out. Panic is a pain, but safety is still important.

Hi everyone. We had a little situation in our house yesterday. We got home from the long weekend and the house had a different smell. It smelt like gas or something. So i began to get anxious. My sister started to feel like she was going to vomit, and she felt dizzy. As soon as she told me this, i began to panic. She is so strong and i look up to her, so for her to feel this way, I thought for sure something is wrong. The fire department came to check it out.......they said it not a gas leak.......nothing was wrong. I was so nervous. And for some reason, i STILL AM. I keep thinking negative thoughts about this. Am I abnormal for still feeling nervous even after the firefighters told us its nothing???? I tried to fall asleep last night but my stomach was in knots and my breathing was heavy. I woke up this morning with heavy breathing still. I just feel upset cause this is my home.....the place where i should feel comfortable and safe. I dont' want to have anxiety just being here. I mean, if something was really wrong in the home, how can i distinguish between my anxiety symptoms and symptoms from an actual gas leak? I guess it would be much worse. But then again, anxiety can make you feel anything. I'm so confused lol :confuse: I just want to know if my feelings of being nervous are right.....or if just the anxiety acting up and playing games with me. I wish i can just be stronger in these situations! thanks for listening
