Thanks a lot timbo.
I think you are right. It was like a shift to.my identity when I quit drinking. It was a tough transition. I have to remember that. It is like losing a friend. A freaking shitty friend! Ha
Ima check out the depression group too..thanks!
Hi Grape,
A lot of people feel the same way you did when you quit for a week. It's a normal response for some. You lost your "friend" the cigarette that you could always depend on being there for you. Trust me, those cigarettes were NOT your friend, they only helped you cope with everyday events. One of the reasons you may have felt depressed is because you did not know how else to cope with the feelings with out the smokes. There's some good information in here about learning to cope while/after quitting. Do a search for depressed, or coping and you should find something. Don't forget that there is another group on this website for depression. You might be able to find some help there too.
Stay strong and stay safe!

Cigarettes Not Smoked
Hi
Has anyone felt depressed while quitting smoking? I had been cutting back for a month and then quit completely for about a week, then I had a slip. I was feeling very depressed during this time. I really feel like quitting smoking caused the depression. Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
