Hi Lynn, unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that you can't take something to stop the panic attack, you can only do that from within yourself. Trust me, I've been dealing with this all my life, and yes, the PAxil I took helped, but now I take nothing and I've learned how to truly, entirely stop myself from having a full-blown panic attack when I feel the tell-tale symptoms. I learned to do this through cognitive behaviour therapy, like the program offered on this site. I'm still dealing with chronic anxiety, which I am slowly working through, but I really have learned to stop panic in its tracks! Give it a try and best of luck to you!
