Control, control and control

typo in the last message.
July 02-2012.
Tonight is my 2nd day without brandy.  I feel proud of myself, I used to have 4-5 drinks everynight but now I keep on reminding myself to control, only I myself can control my urge and no others could help.

Hi Camiol, Monica, and all ladies.
Thanks for all the concern. I feel much better now today except a little bit hands shaking this morning. I think I can go through the withdrawal. Tonight I didn't have any brandy and my house now is brandy free.
This afternoon I went to LCBO and picked up only few bottles of red wine. I have no intention to grab any brandy. I hope I could keep the faith.
Strange, I don't have any urge for the brandy tonight, even red wine. May be later in the night, I have the urge, but I will control myself to have only one glass.
I create this thread just want to track down how I am doing.
Tonight is my 2nd night with brandy.

BP I think Monica's idea of going to,a walk in clinic is a great idea.  Dont let yourself suffer any undue withdrawal symptoms...there are meds that can help. I imagine if the symptoms become too uncomfortable then it forces you back to your habit to ease the discomfort, and I am hoping this doesn't happen.  When you are you are feeling well enough please bring us up to date on how you're doing.

BP-I hope you made it through the night. Nights are the hardest for a lot of people. I know you said that you didn't want to go to your family MD, but maybe you could go to a clinic? When I was drinking the heaviest I was prescribed Topomax for seizure prevention (which I have had and they are nothing nice, especially if they happen in public) and a temporary muscle relaxer for sleeping, while in Detox, they really helped-of course I am not a an MD but if you go to a walk in clinic or alcohol treatment clinic far from where you live you can keep you anonymity.  You could make a day trip of it, go talk to a professional, take yourself out for a nice lunch and a movie or something?

Hi Black Pearl,

Camiol made a good suggestion - to consult your doctor about any heavy withdrawal symptoms you are having.  Have you tried sipping ice water or drinking a soothing tea?  Chamomile is great to help you relax, especially before bed.

Let us know how you're doing today.

BP, check out this website - it has a lot of good information: www.webmd.com/mental-health/alcohol-abuse/alcohol-withdrawal-symptoms-treatments. Lots of strength to you...

BP.   How did you make out?  We're you able to get some sleep?  I'm sorry that you had to go through that, and I wish there was something I could suggest to help you through it, but unfortunately I cant.  Is there maybe some kind of herbal remedy to help?  Or maybe seeing your doctor is a good idea.  I hope you are doing ok.

This is my first night without brandy since 2-3 years. The feeling is bad and I can't sleep but sweating. I keep on telling myself I have to pull myself out of this. I only have a glass of red wine tonight and that is. No more.
I am preparing myself that I will have a heavy withdrawal symptom, I hope I could strong enough to fight with it, and I keep on telling myself that I have to.
Any suggestion to beat with it?
