Tallone,

Thank you for sharing your success and inspiration with us.  It is so nice to hear from you and how well you are doing.

What do you think you have learned about yourself going through this?

Hi Ray:

Thanks so much for thinking of me. I had visited this site lately and didn't see much activity. Glad you're still here and doing well.

I feel fantastic actually. I go to online AA meetings at another recovery website, along with several face-2-face (f2f) outside meetings. I am following the suggestions in the program of AA. I have 36 grateful days sober today.

I have a sponsor and I am following his instructions. He has 26 years sober. I am deeply involved the the Big Book and seeing how wonderfully it applies to my life. It's so amazing how meticulously the book is crafted for understanding.

My life is changing because I am changing. I have an understnding of my HP and willing to trust him to guide me. We have several chats a day, lol. He was very patient with me over these last 40 odd years. And I'm still not a religious man. Go fingure.

Hope your are doing well too, Ray, and.....

To anyone reading this, if you feel hopeless or out-of -control, please be gentle with yourself. There can be finer days again, one at a time, if you just don't pick up that first drink ore use today. It's a simple program that has been proven to work. Spend the time you used to spend drinking and using with other recovering alkies and addicts. We are here for each other. This is a "we" program. You are never alone.

Blessings All!

Thanks Tallone, I have realized more recently how truly valuable and important our health is. We only have one body and one life to live. I want to make the best of it and treat my body with respect. I have made mistakes and will deal with the consequences, but from here on in I don't want to be contributing to my demise....

It is great to hear how well you are doing Tallone, I am convinced that you are on the right track!

Thank you Sam and Ray! I will post whatever the results are here in this health forum. I think everyone will need to hear it, and whatever it is, I'll deal with it. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hey Tallone,

I'm not a doctor, but i was told that depending on age and everything... the only way to reverse damage is to completely stop drinking alcohol.... you'll have to ask your doctor though!

I am quite young so my doctor has told me that I will be able to repair any damage...I hope that you will too!!!

Hi Tallone,

You have taken a positive step by involving your doctor with the more recent changes you have made in your lifestyle.  It is difficult to comment on damage that may or may not be present. Your doctor will be ready to answer any of your questions, once he has the results of your ultrasound. At this point, you are doing the best thing for your liver by staying clear of alcohol. Focus on these positive steps you've been taking, you must be really proud of yourself! I know that I am.

Check in and let us know how the ultra sound goes.

Greetings All:

I'm going for an abdominal ultrasound soon. My doctor wants to see if any cirrhosis is present. My liver area is often sore or tender to the touch. My vitals are good, but there is a chance that damage is there.

Does anyone how if liver damage from alcohol abuse is reversable? If so, how long does it take for the repair to complete?

I guess I should ask my doctor these questions when I see him after the labs come in, but I'm just curious. Has anyone had success in fixing the filter?

Best to all!
