Control, that's basically what I'm striving for....

Hey, I've never done that but will give it a try when I get the family one all ready!

The feeling of being in control?  Priceless!  Thanks for all the encouragement.  It has pushed me over the edge in the best way.

Redfox,

Amazing! Love hearing how well you are doing!  I wonder if you can upload the slides to youtube and then to your profile? I would love to see it!

How does it feel to be in control again?

Leanne, I support you in your goal of cutting back - I think it can be done and feel like I'm doing well with it.  I have not felt physically bad in the least, in fact I feel much better, and already in the second week I find myself thinking about alcohol less and less.  I had 2 glasses of wine over the weekend and I have a hard time feeling like I'm anywhere near out of control. I'm working on a slide scanning project - scan the old 35 mm slides and make a nice show w/pix and music for someone else as a surprise, I never know what I'm going to see next until I scan them and it's fun.  Pretty soon I'm going to start working out again.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone.

I have decided to drastically cut back, I don't know if I am ready to do what you did Rayoflight and just give it up completely...but I find that it is still on my mind a lot...I have to think of ways to replace this habit with other things...I have been finding myself baking a lot more, especially now during the holidays. I'm working on doing a cookie exchange with other family members, so this has been keeping me busy...that and all the Christmas wrapping.

Leanne,

That sounds like a good plan.  How is it going so far? How do you plan on keeping yourself motivated?

Members, what is your plan?

Hi Leanne,

Well i'll be completely honest with you, I decided to cut out alcohol altogether. I'm not saying i'll never drink again, but for me i decided i needed a clean break from it for a good amount of time. It's been almost 4 months now and I'm still going strong and I'm happier than ever! So I can't really say if your plan will work or not but I mean if you really want to try cutting down it sounds about right. I would suggest maybe limiting the amount of drinks you drink in one sitting. So like limit yourself to two drinks (regularly mixed). And drink non-alcoholic beverages in between if you feel weird......

I don't know if this helps any...

Hi everyone...

I have been doing my readings and thinking a lot about NOT drinking. Here is my plan. I want to hear what you think of it, to see if i'm on the right track or not...at least with my thinking.

I plan on starting by reducing the amount of alcohol in each drink,a nd then eliminating one drink per day or every few days, or  aweek (not sure how to go about this exactly, or rather how often to eliminate).

has anyone else found this helpful? Any suggestions? I'm really scared that it won't work and that it will fail. Maybe it's just because I'm still the one in control of what goes in each drink...(I mix them myself).

Suggestions / Feedback are greatly appreciated.
