hi  Huwiji
i stopped smoking 8 days ago after 20 years smoking 20 cig's/day and like you i have chest pains and my heart is giving me small pain. i have read some other
threads in other forums and this seams to be hapening to more people too. i realy can't say if it is a normal symtom of people
who stope smoking but i sure hope it is.
plz keep posting about any change. wish you best health.
Stopping to smoke is much harder than i thought it would be and things that were masked
are now revealed and it could be alil scary sometimes, but i am sure it worths the effort and is
the best thing i chose to do.

Hey Huwiji!!!

Welcome to the SSC!  Congratulations on day 5!  I hope that you had a chance to see a doctor.  Any very unusual health condition should not be taken lightly!  Try to take it easy and take very good care of yourself these first few weeks of quitting!  Also, think about rewarding yourself daily for making it through another day smoke free!  Let us know how you are doing, OK?

Congratulations on making it to day 4. It gets a lot better after day 3, since the nicotine has been pretty much purged from your system.

I did read something a while back about how one of the chemicals in cigarettes actually eases chest pain/ asthma symptoms, so we don't notice what the smoke is doing to us. When we quit, we can have pains from missing that. It is also possible that the chemicals were masking something else. So, definitely take Ashley's advice to see a Dr. Just don't totally scare yourself while you're waiting on your appointment, though.

Hi Huwiji,

Congrats on 4 days!

Sorry to hear you are having chest and heart pain. Although withdrawal may cause a wide variety of symptoms, you may want to consider consulting with your doctor to be on the safe side. Chest pain of any nature should be assessed by a health care provider.
