I came on here to post my current response to the question: What makes smoking inconvenient for you?

As it turns, out, I have the same response that I had here several years ago:
Life.
Life make smoking inconvenient for me.

I had no idea how completely enslaved I had been until I got free.  I am so glad to have had the past 7 years of life without them.

Hi Sasha. You might want to consider using some king of aids in quitting as well. I am using nicotine patches. To be quite honest I don't think I could have ever done this cold turkey. They helped take the edge off and as each day progresses it DOES get easier. It is a life change that will take some time to happen, but if you take this one minute, one hour, one day at a time you can make the change to a smoke free life. Use this web site, read through the forums and it will help you cope as well as giving you great pointers on how to kick this nasty addiction out of your life. We are here to support you!! Stay strong, you can do this!

I have PTSD and don't like to go around people I don't I know. I use it to be able to leave situation. Truth is I smoke all the time. I get migraines and smoking makes them worse but I do it anyway. I want that to stop. I have other health problems it worsens and now I feel upset I can't seem to quit.

Yes I agree with all you guys are saying here. But when I think about my own behavior I realize how I conveniently use smoking to my advantage to hide or excuse some behavior. Like I have some social anxiety so having to go outside to smoke is a good excuse or to take a break from working on something. So it is my thinking behind my behavior that makes it convenient for those reasons. This sounds kind of crazy I know and I wonder what other things I do or don’t do because of smoking. We flew to Hawaii last fall and coming home I went 9 hours without smoking and I almost didn’t go as I knew I’d not be able to smoke for long periods. I did it though!

Smoking is inconvenient for me because every minute of every day was planned around where and when I could grab a quick smoke. Standing in all kinds of weather, not even able to go to a movie theatre without the thought of how I was going to make it 2 hours without having a cigarette. I will not allow this addition to control me any longer.

Smoking is inconvenient for me because I choose not to smoke inside my house and must go outside to do so. Same for when visiting my kids. Also smoking is deemed offensive to some folks I need to be around in pursuit of my hobby.

I’ve been a slave to nicotine/cigarettes for many years. I’m now at 46 days smoke-free! Inconveniences were numerous: having to go outside at work and home, regardless of weather, to smoke; the stench in my clothes; choosing to drive alone on trips rather than ride with non-smokers; looking for excuses to leave meetings early to smoke; inability to focus due to cravings, etc. The list could be longer! So thankful to have made it this far and am confident it is permanent this time.

Smoking is inconvienent for me because they are expensive and I would like to save more money to travel.  Is is also inconvienent because it is now making it difficult to breathe during activities such as hiking and biking, both of which we do often.  I am determined to beat this **** though.  I have been smoke free for 15 hours now.  I will do this.
