Hey J
Very glad to see your weekend went so well. Now I have no idea how long it's been since you either smoked or had nicotine in any form, but congratulations!   Any day without nicotine is a success in my book, and it sounds like that's how you're making it work..one day, one crave, one thought at a time. Like Pen said, Keep on keeping on

Nope, that's not it.  I checked my quit date and had it set right.

One week, two days, 20 minutes and 45 seconds. 180 cigarettes not smoked
Is the reading on my desktop quit meter

I don't know what happened with the quit meter. My official off the nicotine date was.. ah ha.  Seems i'm looking at a 2010 calendar.  lmao

Quit date Feb 26, 2011.. I'll have to straighten that one out.

Ah, the tipping point! You have reached the stage in your life where you want to be quit more than you want to smoke. This is a very common condition which may be much overlooked here but when you arrive at that condition you have a very good chance of making the quit stick!

From one Cold Turkey to another, "just keep on keeping on!"

PS something strange happening with your meter – 9 days quit on Friday, still 9 days today? What gives?

Thank you for the replies everyone!  I'm out of "radio contact" during the weekends.  (can't fight the kids off of the computer at home)

The weekend was a breeze!  Sunday night was tough, when I realized that another work week was looming over me.  All in all, there really isn't one crave, or one situation that you can't handle.  You just have to keep it down to one day/moment at a time in your mind.

So everything I read and what people are telling me is that after another week or maybe two everything eases up significantly.  Hell week is over, heck week is on it's way.  I say "BRING IT ON!"  :)

JoDee- I agree with you.  It's like a switch flips in your mind.  It's not that I didn't want to quit in the past, but... well.. maybe I didn't.  I don't know, it just seems so very different in my mind this time.

My heart is with all the CT folks out there... It's sharp, it stings, but it doesn't last forever.

JoDee, I think you are definitely showing that you figured out what to do to make it stick...almost at a month! and already clear enough to be lending support to others. Go Jodee!

Welcome  JMontgomery!  I understand your desire to bypass the NRT this time - I got addicted to using patches to quit when I wanted to - but quitting that way meant I never dealt with the truth; namely -I am an ADDICT - I couldn't get that concept in my head until I came here to SSC and learned NOPE (Not One Puff Ever).  So I wenty with CT too.  Good for you for pullin' that plug!

Welcome JMontgomery! I'm totally with JoDee, and Aloha, I love reading  you as always.

It was pretty much the same for me. I just sorta woke up one Friday and decided that I'd had it with the cancer sticks. I had prepared, or at least I thought I did. I was just waiting for that little voice to tell me I was ready. Little did I know that I was in for 4 weeks of sheer Hell on Earth, but I'm reasonably well-adjusted now! These next weeks might try and break you, but like you said, it's the junkie talking, and one thing I've learned is that the junkie answers to YOU, not the other way around!

So yeah, it was really hard for me but it was also like ripping off a bandage. So glad I went CT this time.

Good luck and stay with this! I never believed people when they told me that it was worth it... but I definitely believe it now. <3
