Oh, good heavens, Eya, I have tears running down.  Why?  Because I put all I had in prune stocks and now they're all blown out!  Violently!  It's all been flushed right down the toilet.  Oh, well.  Gotta run.  Time to queue up at the soup kitchen.

Whew! So glad you all caught the humor here!  Would hate to have someone run away with this idea, only to find themselves way up sh*& creek without a paddle & then fling it all back in my face simply because I came up with the crappy idea to add prunes to the Cold Turkey Menu!  Now JoDee, you wondered where this idea came from?  Well, I'd have to get backed up again to my 1st 'Truly Quit' day after many days of 'trying' to quit with a puff or two' cheats. As Brenda eloquently puts it when her military mindset kicks in - 'there comes a time for tough love; time to drop the excuses and get on with the QUIT'!  I just got turdily fed up with my own bloated lies & feeling undeserving of any kind of support, I decided to reward myself with my own version of Cold Turkey's just desserts. Now I do hate prunes with a passion! The brown, slimy little nurds look the same going in as they do coming out; very tacky, I know! So I figured this would make the ideal purge! Hence, my constipated brainstorm of killing 2 (Cold Turkey) birds with 1 (prune) stone'.  Feeling betrayed by my best friend, the Vanilla Tipped Cigar, I finally saw her for who & what she was; CRAP! So I began visualizing this loser, user, so called friend as a crappy little steaming nurd! Well my ex best friend, when exposed to the light of day certainly lost her glamorous appeal after that! Unfortunately Shevie, if you've gone out and invested in prune stocks on behalf of this post, I'm afraid to inform you that, after the short initial bloat in the market, the stocks are now beginning to dry up.  However, if you still have stocks in ConAgra, you many want to keep them as I'm now abandoning the prunes (they've served their purpose here!) and am seeking an alternative reward - this sunflower idea of yours plants a new seed here as food for thought to chew on!  Butt at least this wild story has a happy ending (no phun intended!)

It took me a while but I found your post!  Whatever made you think of this?  I looked on-line for a method to flush my system, but didn't find anything that I was willing to try.  I think I am going to buy some prunes for this weekend.  On second thought.......

I had to laugh, too, Eya.  Thank you.

There was another fellow who quit about the time I did who called himself Infinite_D.  He was quitting smokeless tobacco.  Together we ate so many sunflower seeds that we drove ConAgra Foods stock through the roof, LOL.  Perhaps I should pick up some stock in prune vendors?

Great to see you doing so well.

Keep up the great quit.

Thanks for you reply Ashely; glad you got a chuckle   and yeah - I kind of suspected these would be your words of wisdom - to definitely check with your Health Care Provider if you think you want to embark on a radical method such as PRT! I know it seems like you will overdue the prune consumption, but I found that there was no way in the world I could stomach anymore prunes after 2 days of prune 'overuse'.  So I moderated quite quickly - but I believe the 'smoking prune' visualization along with the memory of Quit Days 1 & 2 got me over a major hurdle pretty early on in the Quit.  I just really want to make this Quit my last one forever!  Thanks for letting me share my crazy journey.

Hi Eya,

Your post made me laugh!  Quite a funny idea.    I am not sure about the health risks of PRT (as you call it).  It might be a good idea to talk about this with you family doctor or nutritionist; especially if you have concerns.  Consuming anything in excess has the potential to be harmful to your health so be sure you do your research.

I'm not sure if this will work for other people, and should be run by the Health Educators here to see what they think of this, but to get through the first 3 days of my Cold Turkey Quit, I used PRT instead of  NRT.
'PRT' simply stands for PRUNE Replacement Therapy.  Every time I tried to quit before, I'd get backed up, bloated and feel so crappy (literally) that I'd resort to smoking just to get things moving again.  So this time when I quit CT, I replaced every cig craving with a PRUNE!  Also for every trigger of someone smoking that looked appealing, I now (still) visualize them smoking a Prune. Pretty soon the 'Smoking Prunes' took on a new dimension - they starting looking the same going in as they did coming out! Oh YUK! Perhaps you visualize as this a your worst Nightmare, and yeah- the first 2 days (after 20 cravings/prunes a day) were indeed Brutal! But boy did it work fast to get the toxins out of my system and to cure my desire to smoke cigs/prunes! I got the cig/prune craving down to 3 a day, and am on day 15 now @  3 prunes a day still.  I like that I feel very nicotine free compared to every other quit I've tried - not as spaced out as I usually feel when I quit and I like my regularity very much - not to resort to smoking to cure the ugly side effect of constipation/gut cramps has been worth it so far.  Also watching someone smoke a 'prune' really takes the cravings and triggers down to a minimal if not hilarious level.  This may be too radical or impractical for others (I needed the first 2 days off work for this!) but, for me it has made my CT quit work better than any other attempt (after the first week, this has been the easiest quit ever!)  To remain successful I FINALLY realized that I will Forever and Always say NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!  Maybe this idea is one that may help others, so am putting it out there to that end.
