What is wrong with me?

I am also an insomiac but only sometimes its strange.I have a few things I do to make bed time more pleasent for me during these times.I have a television in my bedroom so I find a channel i like (usually discovery) and I just sort of sit on my bed and watch tv..then I get more comfy and before I know it im actually very relaxed and ready to goto sleep. Also bubble baths work wonders for me..by the time im ready to get out I could probably fall asleep where I am standing..there is no time for me to be worried.Another neat trick is I flip over and put my head where my feet usually go..this works very well for me for a few day, then I go back the right way and so on..I hope this helps gl! ~Sara P.S I am always up in the night as I am a night hawl so if you are ever feeling anxious feel free to "buddy" me and we can chat.

Vickers4, Start working through the program and challenging those anxious thoughts. If you're having trouble falling asleep, get up out of bed, distract yourself or do some light stretches and try again. Visualization techniques may also be helpful to you. Think of a place that is enjoyable for you and focus on it as you drift off to sleep. You may also find it helpful to dim the lights low and avoid television for an hour or two before bed to help cue your brain that it is time to sleep. Hope this helps. I'm excercising at least 30min per day, I've cut out caffeine entirely now, and reduced alcohol to 1 wine in the evening. All seem to be helping with sleep. However, if that doesn't work, I have to switch to 1 ambien, cup of tea, and a magazine while lying in bed until sleepy.

Hi!! Think you are definitely suffering from insomnia and it probably is because you have started a new job. I think the best thing to do is not worry (funny, I know, thats what we all do!) about the fact that you aren't sleeping. Your body will cope without the sleep and rest when it needs to. You can easily get caught in a vicious circle of worrying about it and consequently not sleeping. I think you just have to accept that you are having a few sleepless nights but that they are temporary. When you find you can't sleep, get up and grab a book or watch the telly, don't lie there tossing and turning. Just think, Oh well, I'll sleep when I'm good and ready, this won't last forever. Don't eat too late, try relaxation exercises in the evening. Snuggle up on the sofa. Try camomile tea to soothe you (sweeten if necessary) and distract yourself from worrying about sleeping. You could try herbal remedies but I think the main thing to do is to accept that you may not sleep for a while until you settle down a bit. I hope this helps.

I have been having a really hard time falling asleep lately. I lay in bed and toss and turn for hours! Even until midnight or one o'clock in the morning. It's getting to the point that I am anxious about the thought of going to bed. I've always loved being in bed and I don't know why it's becoming such a burden to me now! I started a new job three weeks ago and have been having this problem since. Could this be the reason for my insomnia? I'm getting so tired that I have been having deja vu's all day. I always have deja vu's when I'm extra tired or stressed so I'm assuming this is the reason for that. Of course, I look up deja vu on the internet and come up with frontal lobe seizures - making me freak out more! Any advice? :confuse:
