Won a Big Day

That's amazing peteg. You really are prepared to do battle this time. Sounds like you're actually functioning  which is more than I was doing at one week in the quit. I can remember being curled up in the fetal position on the couch hoping that the world would go away and you're actually meeting life head on. If anyone's the titan here you are. Maybe the chains have already been broken at this point and maybe we just don't know it yet ? Think about that chinese dinner and the rewards that are yet to come and know that they are deserved. You're the most amazing person here today. Excellent for you. breather

That is awesome, PeteG!!!!  Travelling and smoking are still the toughest times for me....You are really showing a great amount of  focus....Anything worthwhile is worth fighting for!

Congratulations on making it through Hell Week AND airport security!!!!

Keep the Quit,

Dave

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

On the verge of Day 7, which I know is absolutely nothing in the presence of these Titans, but not only did I make it through the first weekend, I also overcame my second biggest trigger, which is travel.  Flew in JFK Airport in New York, rented a car, and got lost on the NJ Turnpike, but I didn't smoke.  Made it to my destination hours late, did a business dinner, got back to the hotel, and DIDN'T run to the nearest gas station for cigarettes.  I went to the gym and worked out instead.  Didn't drink, made some herbal tea in the coffee maker.

Discovered my Blackberry charger is in my other computer bag, so I'm completely out of touch with the home office, and didn't smoke.  Finding that the hotel Internect connection is really slow and awkward, but I'm not smoking.

Tomorrow I celebrate the end of hell week by driving back to JFK (I think I should be able to find it) and staying overnight there to catch an early flight on Wednesday, and I absolutely KNOW I will not smoke.  I'll land in my home town and will NOT go looking for cigarettes.

This will be the first trip since 2006 (the end of my 9-month quit... caused by a long trip that I was unprepared for) that I haven't smoked.

I broke my own 4-day barrier, broke the weekend curse, and now broke the travel curse.  Like I say, I know it's nothing in the cosmic scheme of things, and I know things will get real rocky ahead, but I sure am enjoying the moment.  Thanks, everybody, for your encouragement.

Don't know if I'll be connected tomorrow; probably not.  But I'll be thinking about you all, wishing you all the best, and looking forward to "seeing" you all when I get home.
