I SO know how you feel! Me, I can't get enough clinkers no matter what I do! Good thing I don't even know what a clinker is (when I was a kid taking piano lessons, a clinker got you a crack on the knuckles with a ruler), or I'd be in real trouble. But I just keep popping them like, well, klinkers, you know? I wonder if you can light them. Funny the things I've been thinking about lighting lately... good thing for those clinkers! Give yourself some slack Aussiegal! The first while, it is very normal to be digging in the frig for goodies or snacking. We are looking to replace our hand to mouth habit of smoking, and it does ease off after a while.
Like Lizzie says, alot of us gained some weight, but down the orad it all comes off.
Smoking is far more dangerous to your health than a few extra pounds, so don't punish yourself too much OK?
Ashley thank you so much for the referal to your sister site HWC. I have just logged in there and see that there is a wealth of information and support. Ive always been a sweet tooth and I would like to make changes to the food choices I make so I will do this with the support of HWC. I think I'll keep the two issues seperate (even though one links with the other) becasue I dont want a struggle with one goal to affect the other if you knwo what I mean.

I feel your pain. But Lizzie has a point - consider this your madness of the day/week/season. It is WAY easier to get rid of those few pounds than it is to get rid of smoking.
Try to indulge in the sugar free treats, chewing gum.... You will be OK. You will find that balance. But it takes a while. Be patient with yourself and this process.

OOOH That sounds familiar. I have to confess to gaining a few pounds when I quit...many of my friends as well as me gained quite a few. But we've lost it since. One day, you will recover your sanity! See it as some temporary madness.
Just think damage limitation, and try not to worry too much.

But also know that eating a bit more while quitting is common. Check out Milestone 4 to learn some healthy alternatives. Be a bit more conscious of what you snack on, drink plenty of water and remember your quit is top priority. You can always lose the weight once you are feeling better.
How are you going to ensure that your fear of gaining weight will not interfere with your quit?
In the last two days I have devoured a large block of chocolate, a full bag of clinkers and another of eclairs...3 chocie muffins...Obviously I have a sweet tooth but if I dont cut this out I'll also have some extra kgs and a few less teeth This kind of eating is by no means unusual for me...but since i've quit I'm scared that I won't be able to get away with all the rubbish I used to get away with...weight wise. I'm thinking maybe a diet forum may be something I'll need in conjunction with this SSC! Aaaghhhh!
