A suggestion from my Counselor

Thanks - I will try that! I am a strong believer in God and I pray all the time but I have never tried that approach. I thank God every day for leading me to this website and for all the people on this support group - I also ask Him to give all of you relief. Because this website exists and offers all of the help it does, I know He is listening and that He does answer prayers! I truly believe there is a reason He does not offer instant relief, He is showing us how to become strong by leading us to the people who can help us learn how. He knows we have to do this for ourselves - there are no instant rewards - anything worth having is worth working for. He will show you the tools you need - it's up to you to use them. Thanks for the tip! :)

For those of you that have a faith in God, I wanted to tell you what my Counselor told me to try. I did it and she was right. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night a lot and I wake up feeling uncomfortable and then I let it turn to anxiety and sometimes a full blown panic attack. My counselor gave me a suggestion and it has worked for several days in a row. When you wake up in the middle of the night. Do not get up. Stay where you are and start to pray. Start by thinking of and naming 15 things in your life you are thankful to God for. 15 things. When you name those 15 things tell HIM why you are thankful for them. A) you will fall back to sleep before you get through your list. B) It will distract you. C) You start to dwell on the good in life and all you are truly blessed with instead of the neg. And I want to add that I thank God for you all here when I am naming my list. Together we are strong!
