slipping is painful

Hey Deb!  You've now been to hell and back, and lived to tell about it!

First off, glad you liked your gift but I should've included a guide book.  The energy bars were for you, but if the six year olds gobbled them down they'll be stuck to the ceiling for about a month.  You may have to call in a tutor.  Sorry!

As for self-preservation rewards...NOW you're talking.  Those are the best kind!  Keep working at it and the weight will lift slower and slower.  If it helps to imagine that piano on your back is now attached to the crane and there are three thousand gerbils sitting up in the cab bicycling away to raise it off you.

Must dash...I'm off to buy some gerbil food.  Hang tough, you can do this...you ARE doing this!

Hey Jim, Kaiser and Deb (hi! Deb!-- haven't seen you for awhile),

Only writing a little tonight.  Today was extra hard for some reason so I took it pretty easy.  I'm having a hard time being around people in general, so steered clear and stayed home.  Grouchy.  So that was my reward and it centered around self-preservation.

But I'm not smoking and that's what matters the most to me.  I can deal with grouchy and feeling all pinched up, but I refuse to smoke regardless of how I feel.  I do believe everyone's words: that this will pass.  So I'm just waiting for that.

Thanks for checking on me.  It helps a lot.
xo's to everyone

Dear Deb

Welcome back, my friend! So glad you have chosen to kick the nicodemon to the curb.

I know the beginning is oh, so hard...but, get out your coping skills--iced water, deep breathing, running, snacks, hours on this site reading old posts....whatever the moment calls for. You can beat this, just SAY you can & then don't smoke. Do anything else....whatever the moment  calls for....and do this one day, one hour, one minute at a time. You CAN beat it, I KNOW you can.

N.O.P.E.!!!!!!

Deb

Todash, what a treasure.

The fushia is lovely, the cats still aren't listening (they tend to be a little pissy even with the fanciest whistles), the blinders are dazzling and I have had many people ask where in the world I got them, the bubble bath (for real) was amazing (can only get truly good bubble bath in the U.K.), the 6 year-old's ate 4 tons of energy bars and are swinging from the ceiling, I've made great chammomile tea from the wonderful water, and I have to admit, that I've used the stun gun on the nicodemon (and maybe maybe maybe just a couple of other people who were irritating me)..... hopefully that isn't a problem.  They will get up eventually, right?

Seriously, that was such a wonderful gift!  It was a hard day, and I'm off to bed.  Smoke free and officially can kiss off hell week.  On to heck and back!

Thank you todash.  You made my day.  You really really did.  We must go shopping together soon cause you know how to do it well.  I hope there are people thinking about quitting reading this........ It can be done.

Goodnight all.  And goodbye hell week.

Ok, I've just been out shopping.  Sending across one fuschia, solar powered cat-herder's whistle, one lime green pair of fuzzy smoker thought-blinders, an extra large tub of "Deb's stop smoking special bubble bath", four tons of high energy snack bars, a portable cold water tank and a stun gun for use on Nicodemons only.  Man, he's yanking your chain and I want to personally come kick his ash.

But you're a survivor.  You say you looked for your cigarettes and couldn't find them.  But now that you've cut up veggies without smoking afterwards, that's one to tick off your list of 'times I used to smoke'.  So every time you cut up veggies, it's another time you've done it sans blue cloud.

More, please!

You're almost done with hell week like Rock says.  Keep hanging out with those energetic six year olds and let them remind you what it's like to live without smoking.  You can enjoy yourself without smoking.  They do!  Back on the rollercoaster.  it'll slow down soon.  I promise!

Hi Rock!  Yes, I'm glad hell week is almost over.  Yesterday was a respite from feeling yucky and I'm grateful I had that.  Today I am back to serious cravings, low energy, and irritability.  Lots of bumping around wondering what to do that might help.

I had a weird moment today while I was making lunch.  I had a thought cross my mind, "I wonder where I set my cigarettes, I need one."  And as my eyes lifted from the veggies I was chopping to look around the kitchen counter for them, I realized that I was having a very unconscious moment where the addiction was actually speaking in my head instead of me.  It was a strange and slightly shocking experience.

Anyway, just checking in because I'm feeling lousy.  It's amazing how one day can be so different from the next...... all over the map.  The only constant seems to be my resolve not to smoke.  That has been solid.  Everything else is all messy.  It feels like herding cats at times.
