Awesome attitude christinas, it is funny how our perspective changes gradually as we become that "nonsmoker". You find more time to live and enjoy life, things aren't so rushed anymore. Anyway, glad you enjoyed your ride with your family. It sounds like your seeing the benefits of being free from this addiction. Keep it up.

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Well, I have to admit. It was different. But surprisingly - at least to the "old" me - it was BETTER. I still enjoyed the ride - no changes there. But the stops? I rode with my husband and my daughter. Every stop - he smoked, I played with the little one - it brought us a completely relaxing experience. We stopped for lunch, I didn't rush her to eat so I can smoke, we went out and enjoyed the weather, picked up rocks, played with the stray kittens... just enjoying life asa non-smoker, I guess. I look so differently now at the people around me. As you know, smokers are a minority now-a-days. I used to take pride in that, silly me! Like it was some sort of a rebel attitude - stupid, I know.
Now... I am that non-smoker. And life IS good. And it is getting better, longer, by the moment, isn't it?
Keep up the quit guys. It's worth it!
Cristina

Congrats on making it through the "ride" smoke-free! I'm glad you froze off the nicodemon, he deserved it!

How did it make you feel to get through yesterdays event smoke-free?

Thanks for checking in!

Made it back last night - smoke-free!!! Proud of myself even though I have to admit, nicodemon did not put up a fight at all yesterday... I guess I froze him while riding - it was pretty chilly in the morning....
Happy Sunday everybody and thank you for the support

Oh yes.. Karren--I'm with ya there!! Time is precious & there are so many wonderful ways to spend the extra time

Christine--just keep on promising each day, each hour to be smoke free & you will be delighted at the found hours too.

Keep on staying strong...I promise...it DOES get easier & is worth the efforts...With each crave you beat--the weaker the nicodemon becomes........

Cristina, enjoy the ride! I think it will be great to just keep on going instead of having to pull over every now and then for a smoke.
I noticed how much time I gained through not having to give ten mins here and there to my addiction, and when you're heading towards being an older gal like I am, times pretty precious these days :)
So enjoy your day-sounds wonderful.

Cristina,

Have a wonderful smoke-free ride! You can do this, the pledge has been made and just think you'll be breathing in so much wonderful fresh air on your ride. Be sure to keep your guard up at all times and do what it takes to remain smoke-free!

We are here for you, stay strong and check in to let us know how it goes!

I am going for a ride today. What that use to mean is that we would stop every 50 miles or so, have a smoke/two... and get going again. And then, stopping for lunch somewhere, smoke some more - OK, OK, smoke a LOT more - and then repeat from step one. I am a bit concerned of how it is going to be. I'll be strong, I'll keep the quit. I just did my pledge for a smoke-free day... so I cannot dissapoint anyone, right?
Still, a bit concerned, as I said. Keep the prayer handy for me...
Cristina
