fighting the blahs

14 years ago 0 410 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Congrats Deb!
Tomorrow is thirty days! Bye, bye blahs! My blahs were mostly the poor me's. The slogan, "Move a muscle, change a thought," really helped me get through those times. Once I got off my fanny and started to do something I noticed things like my stamina had greatly improved, I didn't have to stop halfway through  for a smoke break, etc. It also helped to get my mind off myself by check in here,  even if it was just to see how everyone else was doing on their quits.
Hang in there! You've come a long way!

Thanks for checking in Deb.....

I remember you had a period of the blahs on your last quit, too.  I wish I had the words to help lift you out of the funk.  When I was in that frame of mind I just hung on to the words of the longer timers who promised it would lift.  It took a while but it finally leveled out.  It will happen for you as well.

Be good to yourself and accept a BIG CONGRATS !!!

I like the shopping trip idea :)

I've missed you guys too, but seriously didn't think I had anything of import to talk about...... I still don't really but not posting isn't going to help anything either.  And sorry Breather!  I worry about people too when they don't write.  So I will write.

30 days tomorrow.  That's something to look forward to.  I'll do my best today to put on a positive attitude.  I'm in fake it till you make it mode.  And I haven't been rewarding myself with anything, so that needs to change.  It really does help keep us going.

Have to go get ready for that whole work thing.  Thanks for reaching out everyone.  That always helps pull me through too.
Deb

Deb:
According to my wife nothing cures the Blahs like a shopping trip.  Treat your self to a trip to the mall and pick up somthing nice as a 30 day reward.

Blah, blah, blah as much as you want or need!  Things are looking up and you'll be out of the blah phase soon!  You're almost at 30 days smoke free and your little one is off to kindergarten!  Are you treating yourself like royalty?  Are you rewarding yourself?  It's a wonderful life!

cvdeb,

Sorry to hear about your blah feelings. Often people call the first month 'Zombie Month' because of those blah feelings you were referring to. You will get through this though! You have made some huge successes over this past month and should be very proud of yourself. Don't forget to reward when you get through those tough cravings. You deserve it!

Members, any other advice for deb on how to get through those blah feelings?

Hello cydeb  If you don't check in we have to worry about you. You wouldn't want us to have to worry about you would you ? Even if you don't have much to say do a quick post. Life can't be full of excitement all the time. Cherish the days when you don't think about it much because you're getting a reprieve. Congrats on 4 weeks. Better days ahead.  Excellent for you. breather

oooooo I got the blah blues.  I'm coming up on 30 days and for the past 2 weeks or so, I can't seem to break out of the blah phase.  I haven't even written because I don't even know what I have to contribute, or even say for that matter.
The quit is still hard at times.  I'm having days where I don't think about it much, then I have days when junkie thinking creeps in and I want to smoke (to end the blahs), and still have moments when cravings are crazy strong.

I'm proud of myself though.  My son started kindergarten and I had really promised myself that I was going to be a non-smoking mother of a little school person.  I've kept that promise so far.  But this blah thing is getting to me.  I'm not sure how much longer it's going to last, or how to break out of it.  Thought I should check in though even though I don't have a heck of a lot to say other than that.  Just a lot of blah bitty blah blah.
