Deb,

Those sound like some great rewards!

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some low levels of energy. Don't forget to go easy on yourself this weekend and have plenty of rest! Your body needs it as it adjusts to its new health as a non-smoker.

Post as often as you'd like, we can't wait to hear about all of your successes!

Hanging on!  I kept myself busy today..... I didn't know what reward I wanted so I just ventured out with my 5 year-old.  My little one got lego batman for wii (and some new jammies), I got some perfume from whole foods, got a shower gift for my neice, and some mulch for the herb garden.

My sense of smell is coming back and my car stinks.  Yuck.  I don't have the energy to clean it yet-- hopefully this weekend.

I feel in limbo...... cravings so far have not been as bad as yesterday.  Just kind of blah right now so I thought I would write.  It almost feels like the blahs are more dangerous than an active craving.  Maybe I will pick up a book because my energy is low.  Thanks for bearing with this post!  I'm just thinking out loud and giving myself something to do :)

I can't believe you're almost at a year Mr. Q.  That is amazing.... and I've missed you too!  I will never give up on this.  Ever.  It's too important.

Hi Cas!  You are getting closer.  Are you feeling ready and did you pick up all of the little supplies you need?  Thanks for supporting me.  It really is incredible.

And Kaiser, this is how I'm doing:  I'm at the beginning of day 4 (even though my meter reads day 3).  Yesterday was incredibly rough.  It felt a bit like labor.  Cravings were coming fast, hard and steady.  I was triggered by everything.  Thank goodness I've actually given birth because I used the breathing techniques to get through the horrible withdrawals.  And I had to keep telling myself that no matter how bad I felt, how weak, how messed up, I would just breathe my way through it.  It was exhausting.  I really have an appreciation for what we all have done here.  Quitting smoking is a lot of work!  This time around though, I feel like I know myself better which helps a lot.  I know what works to keep me going, I know how to handle all of the ups and downs feelings-wise, and I know what tools work for me too.  I feel more confident about the process because I know this part will pass-- the trick is just to get through it.  And for me, the support I find here is crucial.

When I woke up this morning, the cravings were horrible again, and I remember that for me, day 4 is the worst.  So I need to steady myself with a letter to you all, and prepare for the battle again today.  It's a different day so far in that it's my first day off in the quit.  Any little curve ball like that makes me feel extra cautious.  I'm planning on doing some kind of reward today but haven't decided what yet.... It's hump day in hell week and time for a little reward I think.

So those are my thoughts as I start my day.  I may be on a lot today :)

Thanks again everyone for checking on me.  It means so much (which I know that you know!).
love to you all
deborah

Hey Deb..............

I am not disappointed at all. I am willing to bet most of us here have been down that road a few times.   I only wish that you and all of us here are at peace with ourselves when our heads  hit the pillow at night.  That's the problem with this  quitting business.  Once we have made a serious attempt to quit and stop the denial about the danger, we can never truly feel comfortable picking the dang things back up.  You will find your way through this.  Those kittens may just keep you too busy to think about lighting up.

Good wishes your way today.

Now back to C-Boy training

Hi Deb,

Congrats on two days!  You are doing great.  Keep it up!

What will your reward be for getting through Hell Week?

Congratulations on having the courage to always keep trying.  Quitting smoking is no easy task as I'm sure you know and many of us have suffered the agony of quitting well past the intial withdrawl stages and still failed, myself included.  The fact that you fail and keep trying proves that you really want this.  You've got perseverance.

I remember a few times during this quit I still had moments where I could have easily given in.  This time around I always said "If I'm going to keep quitting until I succeed why not say no and move forward and save myself the agony of going through hell and heck week all over again?"

After 30+ failed attempts, that saying along with the support from those here and a great book "Allen Carr's - The easyway to quit smoking" I'm almost at one year quit with no plans to ever go back.

Keep pushing Deb.  You'll get there too.

A little frustrated.....

I wrote a reply to this thread that took about an 1/2 hour and was just about to send it when...... my 2 new little kittens knocked the power cord out of the wall with all of their shenanigans.

Now I need to cook dinner, and I'll try to get back online later.  Just in case I can't-- I didn't smoke today and got through.  I had tons more to say to everyone but it was lost!

Thanks for your support everyone.  If I can't get back on tonight, I will tomorrow (my day off!  yeah!)
