CRIPPLING PAIN

15 years ago 0 1356 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
PB, trust me on this, don't mess with any chest pain!  Dr's would rather say it is heartburn than to say put 2 stents in you to save your life when you have 100% blockage as my John did.  Smoking does mask symptoms and John had no typical symptoms - we are lucky to still have him.

Hey PB, I think a visit to the Doc might be a good thing. If only for a check up. Better to be on the safe side!

Thanks everyone, I'm doing fine. The pains were a little higher than what a gas pain would be, it really felt like it was in the right lower lung, but maybe not. As I said before, if it comes again I will set up an appointment. Please, no need to worry about me, I'll be fine. I was just curious if anyone else had the same kind of pains, and if it might be attributed to the lungs clearing themselves out.

Sympathy, PB -

Could this be related to your previous problems with kidney stones?  Even if it turns out to be just gas or cramping, you need to set your mind at ease.  Worry doesn't assist in a quit so don't make us worry about you!

Let us know how you are.  Stay strong.

I think it is definitely a good idea to see a doctor

But bobinsc might be right, it could be gas.  Smoking increases gastro intestinal motility(how your intestines move)when you quit, you intestines slow down. Your food spends more time traveling through your gut and naturally produces more gas.

Try cutting out foods that naturally aid in gas production, carbonated drinks and chewing gum. More air swallowed, more gas you'll have. Lastly, regular physical activity has also been helpful as it encourages your gut to start moving.

Let us know how you are doing.

After my heart surgery I had some gas pains like that.......scared the hell out of me too!!!

It could very well be gas....3 or 4 occasions.....what had you eaten on those occasions??  Like you, I dislike the "Doctor process" but suffer through it and find out what's causing it......

Keep the Quit

PB, I have been getting the same pains like you since I was 20 or so.  Random, and stay around for 5 minutes.  You want to crawl in the corner and die.  I haven't exactly found what they were, but some sort of cramps in the chest most likely.  I sit down and do some deep breathing, and it goes away in a few minutes.  You should get yourself checked up on though just to make sure nothing funky is going on.

I more than likely will go to see the doc, I just don't like the process. Appointment for doc, appointment for xrays, appointment for doc, and on and on and on. IF it happens again, I will go. It is definitely one of those things that stops you dead in your tracks when it happens, it is that painful. Thanks for your comments and concern, was actually hoping someone would recognize what I was talking about.
