Hugs Marvini :)  You are da bomb.

Selenia, Welcome welcome welcome.  There is nothing more I can add here that others haven't written, except to say that I tried many times to quit before on my own, and have only managed to keep the quit I have because of this site.  There is usally someone who will write when you are going through the worst of it... and that will keep you going.

Like a few people have said though, you have to want it more than anything.  We talked ourselves into smoking being great, but can you really name anything good it did for you?  Check out Allen Carr's book if you can.  He has a nice way of putting things that smokers can really wrap their head's around.

We are here for you :)
hugs hugs hugs.

Welcome Selenea!
I'm on Chantix too. It has worked for me. I'm feeling good. I'm on my eleventh week of the pill and so far so good.
I experienced a lot of physical discomfort during the first week of my quit. But I just slept more than the usual, and It went by
sooner!
The first week is the hardest. You have to be really comitted to your decision to quir smoking. Don't give cigarrettes qualities
that they don't have; actually they have none! I recommend you to write down your reasons to quit, and read them every night. You get a light head an total lack of concentration during the first days of the quit, so It is nice to read something you wrote when your mind was clear.
Drink lots of ice water and nonsugar added fruit juices
Read the Allen Carr Book
keep your hands busy
take long hot showers or bubble baths
reward yourself
Read and Post as often as you can.
Get plenty of rest
Say NOPE
Congratulations on your decision to quit
Marivi

Selenea, welcome to the SSC!  Congratulations on 2 days smoke free!  You've been given some awesome advice!  I went cold turkey after a chat with my oncologist.  I totally understand the medical reasons for quitting!  Just take this quit one day at a time.  Treat yourself like royalty!  Drink lots of iced water.  Read, read, and read some more.  Use the search function here to look up topics affecting you, chances are very good that others have experienced the same issues.  Make sure you are 110% prepared for this by going through "my program".  Set up a reward system to celebrate each passed cravings, each smoke free day, and each smoke free week.  Just remember that this quit is all about YOU!  We're all rooting for your success!

Hey Selena! Take your anger and point it at the culprit that was trying to kill you - the cigarettes. They never were your friend, they were trying to kill you all along! Read everything you can here, there is a ton of info on this site, new and old posts! It is helpful to change your routine, rearrange the area where you used to smoke, plan ahead and have an arsenal of candy, gum, straws, licorice etc etc. You are on your way, you can do it! The anger or irritability is a normal part of quitting, you are almost through the worst so hang on!

Welcome to SSC.  I can not add much more than what the others have said.  But I can tell you I was or am one of those people that "thinks" I like smoking.  (addict talking)  So I like pain, must, because I quit and then I think oh I can have one, NEVER!!  One leads to another and another and then back to smoking.  Then I stink, I cough, I plan my day around when I can smoke and then I get mad and quit again.  The cycle is awful!!!  It is easier to quit and stay that way than play the games I do.

Come here often and read and post.  If you don't take that first puff you never have to worry about starting over.

Keep the Quit
Sparky

Hi and welcome to SSC

You sound like a person that would be happier controlling their own life than having an addict control it.  That's where I am now.  I AM an addict.....but the addict doesn't make the rules anymore......I do......the non-addict/non-smoker.
It's a BIG change......but I'm seeing it's well worth it.
Post and let us know how you are doing.  Read here as much as you can, you'll find lots of good info.  Keep the Quit.

huggggggs

Hi Selenea,
I agree with Karren 100% that smoking does nothing for us really but over the years we have made that association.  It wasn't until I read the Alan Carr book on quitting smoking the easy way when it sunk in that I don't want to smoke again because it adds no value to our lives. If you haven't read it I recommend it because you will not have those feelings of being forced to quit just for health reasons.  I think that our quit can be even stronger if we really see what smoking is, and that book spells it out very logically.   Anyway I'm glad you found this site and are posting. Keep coming back to ask questions, this site can really help because everyone is fighting the same addiction.
Ron
