Kurt,

We  are sorry to hear about your friend.  Our thoughts are with you.  Sharing this has helped someone in need and we are grateful.

Did you really save the $5300...what did you do with it??

Kurt, your posting is a great reminder of why we all have decided to quit smoking.  For those of us who struggle with the desire to smoke again, its the "old timers" like you who keep us going and staying on our quit.  You're an inspiration to all of us!  Congratulations on your quit.  Come back on 12/20/2008, your four year anniversary!

I am logging back in here for the first time in some time. Amazed to see the money I have saved and the amount of cigerettes I have not smoked.

I quit cold turkey on December 20, 2004. Not going to go out the same way I saw my good friend go. I am not going to die from the lung cancer it gave my good friend. Just before I watched him take his last breath, he asked me to quit for good. I did. 2 pack a day smoker put them down. You can put them down as well.

Fight the good fight and extend your life.

Kurt
