Hi Kurt and Welcome. I smoked close to 45 years. I have tried a few times over the years, or cutting down.. (ah yeah that helps..lol) well I used Chantix this time and it worked.
I actually wanted to stay on it longer but I had some trouble with side effects. I took it for around 60 days....
I can;t say I m strong.. What keeps me "quit" so far is the Memory of the first 30 days. I really DO NOT want to repeat them. The 2nd thing is a post like yours.... the junkie in my mind says... just one puff.. one puff wont hurt, one is ok...
Then I come and find a post such as yours.. I had quit for a year or ___________ and I took one puff, I thought one would be ok...
I had to admit t myself that when I started smoking I created an addict... and it will always be in my mind..
I have to remember.... N O P E I have threatened to have it tattooed on my arm.... or ankle...
someplace i can LOOK at it quickly when needed...
We are here to encourage and cheer you on. Watching my stats and the friendliness here has made this quit "doable" for me.
I know if I "screwed" up I would be forgiven/understood... bur I don;t want to set my quit meter back to zero... I like seeing the numbers.. I remember being a newbie and I was soooo envious of 20, 30 ,50 days.. and then oh wow LOOK triple digits....
I have decided it is MUCH easier not smoking.. I;m not checking to see if I have smokes, do I have enough when I leave the house... oh where am I going to be able to smoke.. do I have mints, spray.. so I don't smell like smoke. Oh No so and so is goin in my car,, and it reeks of smoke.
Now my husband says are you ready to go... grab my purse and I am ready.....
You did it once.. you can do it again. we are here .. so when you crave come yell HELP, wai t for at least 3 to 5 replies....
don't forget to rewrd yourself..
Welcome
Bonnie
