YES, I hate that feeling. But you know what?? I can actully feel that my muscles are tightning. I get this alot with severe muscle tension. I feel like someone is choking me and then my mouth goes very dry and my saliva gets really foamy. Then I feel like I cant swallow because I have a big lump in my throat. I just keep swallowing I hate it Hope we all get better soon, Heather

I got this symptom for the first time last year. Eating Mr. Noodle. It felt like I couldn't swallow the noodles. It's a scary feeling. But I read in a book, the food will always go down, just keep chewing. Easier said than done, when you feel like you're cholking. Kathy

Yes, this has happened to me quite a few times. I always carry bottled water with me and take a big swallow. It always gets rid of the choking feeling. Maybe this would help you?

Yes. I have experienced this in the past. I would find myself susceptible to choking/gagging on things that were difficult to chew like steak or cereal. It was extremely scary and I only resorted to eating soft foods like yogurt and cheese. I agree that it felt very embarassing. I set weekly goals for myself to eat the more and more difficult to digest foods. My prize at the end was the meal of my choice at the restaurant of my selection (my dad's idea - I was in high school). I am happy to say that I have never had those thoughts again. Please hang in there - I DO know how it feels - you aren't along!

Do any of you get this... Out of the blue you cant swallow? Sometimes out of nowhere I will just be sitting in my car or at work and I cant swallow. I feel like I am choking. Sometimes when I'm eating this happens and I have to spit my food out. Its embarassing and it scares me. =(
